Our essay has to be around 2500 words. +/- 10%. I'd rather it be 5-10000. I mean it's 8 odd months of work, you'll have a lot to say. I'm pretty sure the proposal is not included in the word limit although it may difer school to school.

That's how it seems to work with my school. There is no set requirement to make it in but I think if you haven't performed well in Yr 11 you are advised not to. I don't think any school can stop you really regardless of marks.
