    B Business B computing

There are a fair amount of places in this course as well, which has kept the UAI lower than usual. This year might be a bit different though, since they have standardised the IT side of this course with the single IT degree meaning that all IT courses now share the same subjects. I did this...

    Cut-offs.

Also, as far as I know, there are more nursing places at Kuring-gai than the city campus because that's where the main Nursing faculty is, so that might also explain why the UAI at the city is higher (because there are less places).

    Ernst & Young

I drove to clients when they weren't in the city because PT just took too long. Driving to Belrose from my place was about 50 mins ish and would have taken almost 2 hours by PT. Driving to Padstow and North Ryde took around 40 mins, which would have taken 1.5 hours by PT using 3 trains and 1...

Applying for cadetship and doing full time studies

If your work is with a CA accredited firm and your work experience is mentored by someone who has their CA, then it should count towards your experience.

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Laptops If you just hibernate your laptop before your lecture (which most laptop users do) then I suppose it should only take you about 30 seconds to get ready. I'm a pretty tech savvy person but I still wrote most of my notes on paper rather than on my laptop. I guess it depends how you are.

Applying for cadetship and doing full time studies

Unless you are really motivated, I wouldn't try doing more than 2 units a semester while doing your cadetship full-time (unless they give you more time off). I suppose you could always try it for a semester and see how you go, but full time working is quite tiring (especially if you're just...

    Student Life: UTS vs USYD

I don't remember the last time we had a good debate going on in the UTS forum :p

    Westpac Traders

Most grad jobs usually look for at least a credit average, though the higher the better. It's not all about your marks though (well some jobs like IB's and actuaries prefer really good marks) as they also look at your extra-curricular activities, your soft skills and your work experience over...

    Student Life: UTS vs USYD

From my general observations of people that I know, the ones from USyd seem to just go to uni and go to class and leave straight after, whereas the ones I know from UTS hang around and do stuff. I had no trouble meeting people at UTS and I think it has a great environment if you make the effort...

    Westpac Traders

Westpac's Kent/Sussex office is pretty awesome I agree. They do take grads for many different divisions and many degrees, so you could try and get into one of those. They do take a fair amount of people from Business/Commerce degrees into accounting and finance type roles. Usually you rotate...

    Laptops for Uni

Re: Laptops I mainly used my laptop in lectures to surf the net rather than take notes. I used the printed lecture slides to take notes. I really took my laptop to uni to use outside of class, to work on assignments and stuff, and to use when I was tutoring. So yeh, it's really up to you :p

UTS - Semester 2 2006 Official Results thread + Predictions (Wed 20th Dec)

I did Internet Commerce in Autumn 06 in my final semester. I purposely left this to the end because it's a very pointless subject and I only did it because it's a core in the IBT sub-major. Lucky for the 2007+ students that this isn't a core subject anymore in the new majors. I went to like 1 or...

Wat's the advantage to combine Commerce with Law?

Most people combine commerce and law just to have more job prospects I suppose and more options when they finish. It also helps if you are looking at jobs which require both fields. Also, say working in an accounting firm like EY doing legal stuff, it would help having both degrees as you'd be...

    what is Investment Banking?

Please stick to posting only one version of the same thread anywhere on this forum. It just helps to keep all the posts in one place and usually the same people will browse all sections of this forum.

    Accounting Skills Q

I don't think I've replied yet. Anyways, I suppose you just need to be able to communicate properly, both verbally and written. You don't need to be a great public speaker, just someone who can talk properly and make sense. You'll see that in pretty much all jobs, not just accounting. With...
