    English extension 1 thoughts?

Excellent paper. Module C questions were challenging, and I think After the Bomb looked pretty difficult. Romanticism was apparently easy. Didn't see genre - it was OK?

    b6 raw mark cut-off

Hey mk! They change it every single year based on the difficulty of the paper. And pure raw marks are not really a useful piece of information to figure out B6 cut offs for Modern, because the raw mark gets weighted according to the options selected. Generally though, it's around 83-86 for...

General thoughts: English Advanced Modules Paper 2

Good discussion guys. :) Best wishes for your English exam results. If only it were done... still have Extension to go... ugh... textual dynamics...

    hsc marking

The BOSTES website states that our papers will be marked by 11 markers. In other words, all of the modules, and the AOS essay+creative are double marked. The reading section is marked once.

General thoughts: English Advanced Modules Paper 2

I am confident in saying that you are not "pushed out" of A range because you lack a conclusion. There are HSC markers at my school who repeatedly say that if you run out of time, omit the conclusion, for they have really made their mind about your mark by the end of your last body paragraph...

General thoughts: English Advanced Modules Paper 2

This will be a circular argument, and since none of us can definitively prove our claims, there's no real point going on haha :). However, if a response is state ranking quality, and it lacks a conclusion, do you seriously think the HSC markers would say "yep this response is outstanding, but it...

General thoughts: English Advanced Modules Paper 2

I highly doubt a marker will penalise an essay for lacking a conclusion. Firstly, they do not deduct marks. They look for reasons to add marks. If your argument has been sophisticated and excellent, they are not going to reduce your mark because it is lacking a conclusion. Secondly, the...

    State Rank Raw Mark?

It'll be similar to the 2009 and probably 2011 statistics. 94/100 will probably qualify for 20th. (ie. 42-43/45 AOS (which moves to approx 38/40) + 55-56/60).

General thoughts: English Advanced Modules Paper 2

This could not be more wrong. Straight from the syllabus: Module A: Comparative Study of Texts and Context This module requires students to compare texts in order to explore them in relation to their contexts. It develops students’ understanding of the effects of context and questions of...

    2015ers Chit-Chat Thread

Can you do the syllabus analysis of Conflict in Europe that you did for Germany? I don't do it, but I love your style of thinking. What kind of marks do you get for Modern?

    ATAR Estimate

99.60 to 99.80, I think is what you're looking at. Why law =]?
  12. Ununoctium

    ATAR Estimate please

    Yeah, you're looking above 60.

    ATAR estimate

It's hard to estimate, since it really depends on your externals (low ranked school...) I'd say around 95, but it could obviously be more or less.
