    Does God exist?

    Ok, i agree.

    Does God exist?

    1. You're talking about things on the macroscopic, every day scale. If you observed a quantum fluctuation and asked what caused it, the answer would be nothing. 2. Some versions of string theory/M-theory have an infinite multiverse, there are ideas with 'bubble' universes. Really, we don't have...

    Does God exist?

Oh and also, if this cause was the God of Christianity (or most major religions), why do the conditions of the Big Bang necessarily need to lead to life? There is inherent randomness in the quantum fluctuations in the early universe - the universe is not deterministic at the smallest scales. So...

    Does God exist?

I don't agree with 1. 2. it depends - there are some ideas that don't require a beginning, but see our observable universe as a part of something bigger. 3. Why is this cause God?

    Does God exist?

Matter didn't exist, it was formed from energy. You could argue that energy did exist, but that depends on which theory you subscribe to. Some have a balance of positive and negative energy, meaning that no energy actually existed at t = 0.

    Does God exist?

There are lots of ideas, Hawking's is interesting: By that, the analogy of the Big Bang as being like the North Pole hold :) But that's just a very simplified version of one idea and we have to admit that we don't really know yet.

    Does God exist?

Stop thinking of time as something absolute. It's the same thing as space. The only difference is in the way we perceive it. And it seems that we perceive time the way we do as a result of the second law of thermodynamics, which is one of the few time-dependent physical laws. You're saying...

    Does God exist?

Ok but you see what it looks like from our perspective? And that muslims would say the same thing about you? And i know it's not, but she was arguing for god based on her personal experience of that god. So i'm saying that people from all sorts of cultures at all different times claim to have...

    Does God exist?

Then can you see why we think you don't feel that way?

    Does God exist?

What would you say to the millions of muslims who feel exactly the same way? Are they wrong?
  11. W

    Does God exist?

Yes that was what i was asking. I don't believe that's a good answer though. If that's the case, and if the bible contradicts scientific knowledge, shouldn't it be possible to find fault with the knowledge? Basically - is it wrong merely because the bible says otherwise, or because the theory is...

    Does God exist?

To you, does quantum theory and the Heisenburg uncertainty principle (the energy-time one) count as something coming from nothing?

    distinction courses

Based on 2006, a good band 6 in 2U Maths can be enough. I accelerated in physics and maths, but a friend who also got in only accelerated in 2U Maths and scored 95. The residentials are amazing experiences - you get to meet people with similar interests and ways of thinking and the...

    Olympiad Acceleration University

Well 2nd year maths (MATH2061/2961) is a corequisite for advanced second year physics, but i guess it might be possible to get it waived. I haven't heard of anyone being accelerated in physics, even though some of my friends did participate in the Physics Olympiad.

    Does God exist?

I know it's from wikipedia, but you can look at the references if you don't believe it:

    Trig!!!!!

    cos2x - sin x = -1 1 - sin2x - sinx = -1 sin2x + sinx - 2 = 0 (sinx - 1)(sinx + 2) = 0 So sin x = 1 (as sinx can't equal -2) So x = pi/2

    a money puzzle question (equations)

Yeah my solution works out to the same number, but I was trying to just use 2 unit stuff :p.

    a money puzzle question (equations)

Lol it's difficult to explain - it makes sense to me :p. Basically I'm fixing the number of 2 dollar and 1 dollar coins and then working out how many possibilities of 20 and 50 cent coins there are. Do you understand why my original equation is as it is? So lets say you have 2 two dollar...
