I don't know what the acronym (I assume its one) FIRM ICE is... But what I do normally when I'm analysing an unseen text, is I read the the text with a highlighter and just highlight every technique I see. If you know the most common ones (metaphor, intertextualy, allusion, alliteration etc.)...

I enjoy the area of study personally, and I don't know whats wrong with saying that change is inevitable, its something that applies to all areas of life... I agree with what you say about it being pretty predictable tho, except the creative section of the area of study which is completely...

I honestly don't know why people hate english so much... It's definitely one of the more interesting subjects, I don't know about you but I find "Frontline" (Hilarious) and "Brave New World/ Blade Runner" (Interesting) much better than the stuff you do in other subjects, e.g. maths...

I think you missed the point of his post... Asking which course is better design or nutrition, is like asking which colour is your favourite red or blue.... How the hell is the person responding supposed to know which is the better one for you? You have to be more specific, like asking...
