    General Thoughts: Physics

l got 40.2 cm for the length relativity question, since it was from the electron's frame of reference. if it was from and observer's frame of reference it would be smaller

    transmission question

    General Thoughts: Physics

for that releasing thee mass at the poles and the equator question, l said the mass would go in a geostationary orbit at the equator and the mass at the pole will come back down. who else said this?

    Band 4 cut off?

    l'm guesstimating about 55-60

    General Thoughts: Physics

that validity question was out of the ordinary, but it was a pretty fair exam. expecting 65 raw. I MISSED THE FUCKING QUESTION 30 BEHIND THE LOUDSPEAKER QUESTION!!!

Raw marks estimate and b5/b6 cut-off.

if you compare it to the previous years, you will see that this was mostly about theory, which makes it easier. l'd say the band 6 cut off this year would be 75-80. band 5 would be around 70
  7. L

    Maths Raw Marks

that is completely wrong. hardly any people do engineering studies and yet the cut offs are disastrously high. lots of people do chemistry but the cut off is way lower

2012 HSC Extension 1 Mathematics Solutions

1 the quicker l realize l'm gonna be stuck in UWS, the better.

    band cut-offs?

really? that's a relief! l missed out on 15 marks and bullshitted 20 :L but because of my assessment mark my hsc mark should be in the 50's or 60's
  10. L

    english cut offs?

    well that sucks
  11. L

Band 6 and 5 cut off

l think this year it'd be much less, about 84% a band 5 would be around 73% and a band 4 would be about 64% (which is what most of us are expecting)
  12. L

    english cut offs?

l know most of us did bad this year, and only a small percentage were prepared with the correct responses for AOS (belonging through time) so l'd expect the cut offs to be pretty small compared to other years l got a raw assessment mark of 71, and l'm expecting a raw exam mark of 60. what band...

    band cut-offs?

l did pretty poorly in my assessments and l calculated that l got a raw mark of 58% what band would that be alligned to? and what would the cut offs be? l will probably get a raw mark of 40% in the exam though because l didn't study, l had 3 exams in a row (maths 2u, engineering, 3 unit) and...

    General Thoughts: Engineering Studies

so basically, they don't give out the raw mark? all they write for the examination mark is the alligned mark?

    General Thoughts: Engineering Studies

what do you mean by a band 5 cutoff? are you talking about the percentage of people you beat of you score 60? or are you saying that it gets scaled up? because l'm sure everyone knows that engineering studies is one of THE most worst scaling subjects there is.
  17. L

    General Thoughts: Engineering Studies

it's because everyone does bad, there are hardly any people in the 90's they have to scale the higher marks down to average it out. it sucks but that's life. can't do much about it
  18. L

    General Thoughts: Engineering Studies

how does that give you a solution? and l got 84kg. l subtracted it from the weight of the person and got 1 kg. l'm pretty sure the plane doesnt weigh 1 kg so l added them up and got 167 kg. l used the graphical method. l think we're both wrong. but don't worry, l'm sure nearly everyone in...

    General Thoughts: Engineering Studies

that has to be one of the worst exams ever made by board of studies. it asked us stuff that isn't in books, past papers, and stuff that our teachers haven't taught us. what do they fucking think they'll do by making it practically impossible to do? place nearly all of the students in the 60%...

    Plan of Attack

no way man. ext 1 is hard. you have to remember a lot of crap and try to apply them to hard as shit questions l'm only doing this because it's the assumed knowledge for a course in uni. engineering is about realising the type of questions they will ask you and just remember the info. they have...
