Yet Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry textbooks can be found as PDF's with their respective hard copy textbooks. I don't see why the authors of the Economics textbooks can't do the same - especially with the Dixon and Riley textbooks.

yep, soft copy + diagrams + graphs + wide margins (all of the first 3 topics + a bit of labour markets) - so 40 pages is justifiable. with small margins + no diagrams + no graphs, it would be much shorter.
