    Maths help please?

OMG our maths prodigy doesn't know?! AFAIK, it's the same as the regular domain.

    Maths help please?

HAHA yea, I never thought of that, although that's not always applicable, (e.g y = sqrt x).

    Maths help please?

Horizontal are, Oblique aren't. Piece meal functions are: And if you're ever confused (and have time in an exam) regarding the shape of a graph, find the y-intercept, substitute points on either side of the x-intercepts and between the x-intercepts (similar to Critical Points method), and...

    Maths help please?

Discontinuity refers to where there are no x-values for a function. So a 0 in the denominator for hyperbolas (which cause the asymptotes to appear) results in discontinuity, Piece-meal functions, A semi-inverse parabola (y= sqrt x) where the x inside the square root cannot be negative etc.

    Maths help please?

    1. a^2 - b^2 - 3a -3b = (a-b)(a+b)-3(a+b) = Cancel~one~(a+b),~and~put~the~3~inside~the~bracket,~leaving~you~with: (a-b-3)(a+b)} 3. For a normal function, you can use the vertical line test to determine if the graph is a function or not. For a 1-1 function, use a vertical AND a...

    When was titanium first used?

What dotpoint of the syllabus? Titanium has high reactivity and wasn't discovered in "Ancient times". I don't particularly know much regarding Titanium, but here's some information on the very similar Aluminium (not copy+pasted): Compounds consisting of aluminium have been used throughout...

    Preliminary 2012 Chemistry Marathon

Both of you guys should stop arguing. This is not a place for you to joke around/take out your anger on each other. Every post should be relevant to Chemistry and related queries or answers to given questions. And no, it's Francium. Especially if nightweaver says so. There is also a 7 marker...

    ATAR ESTIMATE PLEASE!!!

    You're going good. Most likely ~ 98.4 -99.0
  12. theind1996

    Atar estimate?

Yep, unfortunately, 99+ is unlikely at the moment. BTW, if this is Sydney Girls, my goodness you guys have a MASSIVE 3 unit cohort considering only about 65 band 6's last year. At the moment, I would estimate ~ 96.3. Good luck, if you improve your ranks, I think a 97.6 -ish is possible.

    Half Yearly Results Thread

WOW, for our AOS: Change, we got our marks back yesterday, and the teachers are pretty worried as well since the average for creative writing was like 8 or 9/15 and for short answers, it was around 10/15. ~girra (freshie) lyfe~

    Years 9 & 10 2012 Chit Chat Thread

Yea, but at my old school, I gave almost half the grade a LUNCHTIME SESH on scaling and aligning that within a week (note: I didn't encourage people to choose certain subjects, I just made them aware). Needless to say, we ended up having (non-selective school BTW) 94 people doing Phys/180 in...

    Years 9 & 10 2012 Chit Chat Thread

That's probably true, I just found it extremely hard to believe at first when Rivalry said that people drop down by choice. I think every school's students should be educated on the scaling and aligning process in year 10 before subject selection, but then again, especially with selectives...
