    moles????????

Doesn't hurt to make sure! Some people in my year missed the bit about diatomic substances, so they had absolutely no idea that they work differently! Good that you know it though!

What to drop for year 12?

I had the same problem as you, I was doing 2u english adv, 3u maths, chemistry, physics, music 2 and ancient history. I wanted to pick up music ext, maths ext 2 and history ext, but decided 16 units may not have worked....Even though I loved all my subjects and didn't want to drop any. I ended...

    My Subjects..and Hi!

Don't believe people when they say 13 units is too big a workload!! Sure, if you're doing a lot of subjects that involve a major work, like art, design and tech, etc, it might get difficult, but if you're doing mostly theory-based subjects, it should be no problem. I have 13 units and keep up...

    My Subjects..and Hi!

I'd reccomend 4u maths only if you like the subject. I actually find ext 2 easier that ext 1 (go figure...) but it's a lot more work. It's fun though!

    Gay Lussac and Avogadro's Laws

Lol, I wasn't too sure if I made sense either...Well it made sense to ME...Not that that means much!

    Gay Lussac and Avogadro's Laws

The volume ratios have to stay the same. For C4H10 + 13/2 O2 ---> 4 CO2 + 5 H2O (I often find it easier to balance diatomic substances in halves, It means you don't have to halve everything later) You have 1 of C4H10, so therefore you need 13/2 volumes of O2 for every volume of C4H10...

    First Prac!!

I forgot the words once. I'd been so completely unorganised and picked my piece 2 days before the assessment. I thought I knew it...Turns out that I didn't...(That was in year 10) Oh and once in a singing exam I was doing a piece in German and mixed the verses around something chronic! I sang...

    moles????????

But Oxygen is a diatomic element. If you're using Oxygen gas you need to use O2 not O, so the Molar Mass is 32 not 16. You have to be careful with diatomic elements, such as O2, I2, etc Yes that's right. The formula is n = m/M therefore m=nM m=1 x 16 m=16g

    Chemistry only 4 topics??

Don't stress! You don't need to know much of the year 11 work of rhte HSC. You start with 4 completely new topics!
  10. Emma-Jayde

PHYSICS y have you gotten this way?

Yeuch, I just suck at the whole regurgitation of information thing. I can remember formulas and ramble on about absolutely nothing for 5 pages (...English and music...the only 'essay writing' subjects I do...blah blah blah King Lear blah blah techniques blah blah de blah blah) but when it come...

    How can this be?..

Yeah, all the adv english classes at my school are doing different texts too, ie King lear/Harwood (or whatever) and BNW/Bladerunner and Emma/Clueless.

    New Periodic Table

    ?? There's a new periodic table??
  13. Emma-Jayde

    Chemistry only 4 topics??

lol I loved the Chemical Monitoring and Management topic! Hmm... not quite so bad as Pace_T, but there was an energy topic?.....Hmmm..... The Acidic Environment and The Production of Materials are the other 2 HSC topics, plus the option.

    anyone doing prelim music?

Music 1 is more performance, music 2 has much more theory and musicology. The music 1 course is designed for people who either haven't studied music in years 9 and 10 or who haven't been playing for long and aren't up to the technical standard or musical understanding of course 2 work. The...

    How to do?

Well, considering we won't know the question until we get into the exam.... But you need to know the pieces you've studied during the year really well, and how concepts are treated in the mandatory topic and your additional topic
  17. Emma-Jayde

    Performance Help?

Jeez, if you really have no idea do you think it's a good plan to go on with music? What about the composition and musicology assessment tasks that you already should have done? And your half yearly? That should have had aural sections in it

    moles????????

Reigning premiers? Newcastle? Bah hahahahaha. Can't see that happening any time soon!! You don't really need to know much from the moles topic for the HSC, only the formulas
  19. Emma-Jayde

PHYSICS y have you gotten this way?

Yeah, it's a great topic, it's just infuriating when what you're doing in maths is what you SHOULD be doing in physics! Grrr, they've done the same thing to chemistry as well

Rounding off answers -- whats the rule?

I've always been taught to round off at the very end. Which makes sense because if you have to do a couple of calculations amd you used rounded answers, they don't really end up being close to the answer you should get.
