    Psychology Essay

That's the point of the essay: to critique the study and show through the use of other's findings whether the results are justified. It's a massive yes.

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

I'd have to agree with you on these points, though I nearly feel asleep in the first lecture given by Nico but it might've been the strange lighting and poor lunch than what he was saying. Caleb's cool, I find his nerd references funny. We haven't had anyone else yet, but we should be...

    Psychology: How to

I reckon you should read the textbook once in a while. Yeah, you do get a lot of the information from the lectures and course readers, but reading through the textbook can give more details on the topics you're learning about and introduce you to more concepts related to the discipline you're...

What do you guys do during breaks?

My habits will most likely change the further I progress into uni and the more friends I make, but so far my breaks consist of getting a quick bite to eat, wandering around campus and hanging with high school friends if I run into them.

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

I'm in the 11am stream, and I can say that we did. The lecturer called it 'summation notation', but the sigma sign was definitely there.

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

I've already taken a liking to social psychology, but Zadro is probably who's going to make it even more interesting. :D The Skyrim reference was definitely there, along with the Harry Potter and Matrix references. Sweet. I'm pretty excited for my next psych lecture, so I'm sure I'll like Dr Nico.

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

Yeah, the list was pretty funny. Zhivago was the best though. :haha: I don't have Dr Nico until Thursday, but I've had Dr Owens and Dr Zadro. Dr Owens' nerd references were funny, but Dr Zadro is hands-down the best of them all.

    Friends and other shiz

I'm pretty bad at friend-making, so it's not any different for the first week of uni. I met a guy with similar music taste at O-week but I haven't seen him since then, and it's not helping that we don't share units of study. Right now the only people I'm really friends with are people I knew...

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

You must've had a different lecturer to mine, I had Dr Chan. Stem-and-leaf plots should be one of those simple graphs that everyone can do by the time they leave high school. It wasn't something we went through in HSC 2-unit but it's worth remembering. *Zadro. Didn't she show you the list of...

    Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Last I heard of it, the School of Physics is working on introducing a major in Astronomy. I'm not sure when, my guess is in the next 2 years but it was only a passing mention.

Hahaha, what? We went through sigma notation today in Biostatistics and was just wondering when we'd get to learning new concepts.

    Semester 1 Timetables

Turns out the university invalidated my old timetable and I had to make a new one. I tried making it as similar to my old one as possible but I couldn't get rid of the 5pm biology class on Thursday. On the plus side I managed to get rid of the 9am Thursday start.

What clubs and societies did everyone join?

Joined Solidarity and PhySoc today. And I didn't get the SMH card. My work gets them in every morning so there's no reason to get another.

What clubs and societies did everyone join?

SciSoc, Psyche, BioSoc, Thai Students Association, AIESEC and the Anti Racism Collective so far. I still have a few more clubs to join, so I'll be in tomorrow. :)

Degree to get involved in cancer research

B Medical Science is the degree you should try if you're interested in cancer research. I know a friend of mine who's going to use the degree to get into general medical research, so cancer research should fall under that. You only need an ATAR of 92 for high-end universities like Sydney and...

    What to bring to O-week

It's been a hectic two days so far, and all I can say so far is how much free stuff I got on the day. I didn't even have to pay money for food, I just get them from wherever they're giving out food. So good.

    What to bring to O-week

Can't we use our student cards for Access cards and maybe societies? It would seem useless to have a debit function which can't be used. :)

    What to bring to O-week

Since lectures don't start until the Monday, I'm guessing that writing pads shouldn't be brought until then. On that point, what else should I bring? I should be fine with a small bag, pen and student campus card, right?

Political Compass - Find out what you really are...

Did the test listening to the national anthem of the Soviet Union. :rolleyes2:

    Materials for notes

I'll probably get what OzKo recommends, it looks like the most convenient way to keep notes. Thanks a lot!
