    Distinction Courses

I really doubt anyone would go through a Distinction Course and not enjoy it – and I don't think that point has been lost on anyone here. I did Philosophy this year. Having done this, I think the way to decide which distinction course you want is quite simple: Generally, no-one is torn...

2005 Group FOI for raw marks

By putting all the applicants on one application. Therefore, the fee of $125 is defrayed amongst the group. I have spoken to Laz, he thinks it's a good idea. :)

this years exam - band 6 cutoff?

I don't know; but my definition would prevail nevertheless. Only one person needs to get 100%. So long as that happens, the process occurs normally and a 99.5 is rounded to a 100. It's only when no-one achieves 100% that no 100s are awarded – regardless of rounding. So, in the case of MX1...

this years exam - band 6 cutoff?

The Board's Consultative Committee has decided that the only condition from which a 100 examination mark can be awarded is if someone achieves 100% total weighted mark. Even if someone scores 99/100 and the Band 5/6 cut-off is 30/100, they will only get 99.

    Randomization in Excel

Hello! Please answer this question: Is there a feature on Excel to randomly sort a column? Thank you for your time. Captain pi.

this years exam - band 6 cutoff?

Please bear in mind that even raw marks are difficult to predict because the Board does not release the marking criteria for Chemistry. Nevertheless, I estimate the Band 5/6 cut-off at about 77. This means you would do as follows to calculate your aligned mark: Let your raw mark be r. Your...

    multiple choice...WTF?

It was definitely the hardest multiple-choice session I have done. I got Q1 wrong (wrote D (electrons : neutrons) instead of B (protons : neutrons)). And 15 was A (0.15).

    Chemistry - General Thoughts

Stuffed it Got Q1 wrong. Got the Haber graph partly wrong. Not enough detail for my Shipwrecks (b)(ii) 3 marker on steel. My discussion of the "Advances in Chemistry impact on technologies" discussion was tenuously linked to the question. The last question "Justify and describe the...

    Who's Totally Screwed For Chemistry

*raises left shoulder* I am so stuffed for Industrial Chemistry. I don't know anything about it. :( It is hence fortunate that I know everything about Shipwrecks, Corrosion, and Restoration. *hugs everyone*

    Barnaby Joyce.. Again

Aside from the other debate, does anyone find this comment a tad xenophobic (in that he is characterizing Muslims as violent)?

Can someone clear this up for me?

For a galvanic cell, the more active metal (in this case, Cu) oxidizes and the less active metal (~ Ag) is reduced. Otherwise, the voltage would be negative <=> non-spontaneous. Oxidation is loss of electrons which means X --> X+ + e- for a metal, X.

    Scaling ???

Aligning and Scaling English Extension 1 is curious because you all do different topics which are marked in different teams (I believe). So I think there will be multiple processes involved: weighting, aligning, and scaling. This is my belief of the process (Lazarus! Oh Lazarus! Where art...

    Request For Raw Marks Denied

ReNcH: The tricky part is the external review: going to court and arguing your case. It's a bit more difficult than printing off a form (or so I am to believe). Still, if enough people collaborate, it might be worthwhile. ;) See me after Chem.;)

    How was the exam?

Do you know Vaughan? :D And, yes, it's certainly possible in some exams. It would be a very good mark in this exam, thinks pi.
