    yes i realise that. but the code for x64 is not optimised on most programs at all :\ so you might be worse off........ just cos on paper it 'makes sense' the reality might be very different.. like SSDs they use "less" power.. and yet in real world testing i have seen the SSD versions power...

    max out your CSP/HECS times :D sometimes its because if u fail to qualify you need a backup career.. and doing a 5 year degree can lead to a profession.. if the 5 year course is like a dual degree you can get away with sitting the GAMSAT at yr 3.. then if you do well.. you can graduate out.

    lol @synaptic.. but i almost didnt notice it :\ lots of little things.. i upgraded to Oo 3 cos its got 2.6 as default. emtaylor: if its the free disk.. i recall it takes lik up to 6 weeks if its the paid one from the aust site its like 1 week

    the ubuntu distro if you use the default install, it can do a full with correct swap partition. I used it to make it auto resize with windows XP and it just does it pretty quickly.

    i think that OP should specify what they mean by games ... yeah all the computers mentioned are options.. but for $2.5K i would recommend the Vaio TT series.. they are hot.. :)

    i got the eeepc 1000H its not needed for medicine/science..from research and first hand experience ..paper pen attendence and IQ of 110 is whats needed.. i get about 5 hrs on it when i use XP most old games work which is what i wanted but also need openoffice to work.. and Office 2007 works...
