    no, c= 300 000 000 meters per second

    Geometrical application of Calculus

Or more generally, a polynomial of n degree has n roots. If n is odd then an odd number are real (could be either 1, 3, 5... or n), and the rest are complex. If n is even then an even number are real (could be either 0, 2, 4...or n) and the rest are complex. Bear in mind that these...

    Probability

Ok, first think how many ways can there be to sit? The answer is (as you should know) 8!. Then we want to find how many of those satisfy the condition. To do that you can find the percentage of them that will satisfy then multiply them, the reason we multiply is because whenever we say something...

    Dux thread for 2005

Wow, thats double I'm getting. Is it for dux? The dux at my school only gets like $100.

    Geometrical application of Calculus

really? I just figured it from commen sense...

Thanks I made it myself, it is an animation of the taylor series of sine...

    Finished

I had six weeks to do this assignment, I left it till the last day and did it in one sitting. Now I'm done and realising how much better I could have gone if only I started earlier. When will I ever learn?

    tricky probe-ability!

    That's a boxed trifecta

    Dux thread for 2005

You cannot generalise, if I could do 10 units of maths and nothing else then I would.

    Dux thread for 2005

I didnt get dux (year 11) but I don't care, my awards that I am getting come with more money than that :) Do most schools hand out money/vouchers for awards?

How did you find/hear about us?

I have known about this site for years bet never really until recently, it seems to be common knowledge at my school.

    got a fetish?

But you are suggesting that I am concealing my true feelings concerning my attraction towards women which is as I mentioned is false. I think you are just being difficult now.
  13. S

    got a fetish?

If that were true I wouldn't be ashamed to admit it.
  14. S

What marks do you expect to get?

He's also not in year 10. I never really cared about my School Certificate, if you are going on to do the HSC it means basically nothing at all, I certainly have put it behind me. If you get less than you hoped just make sure you keep up your motivation over the next two years.

    Seeing Relativity

Somebody has compiled a bunch of videos showing what the world would look like if c was 1ms^-1. It is quite interesting and might help you visualise and understand relativity better: http://www.anu.edu.au/Physics/Searle/ (scroll down past the screenshots to the videos)

    got a fetish?

Nothing tops a beautiful face, the body comes second.

    permutations and combinations

OK, I guess I haven't come across that yet, thanks.
  18. S

    permutations and combinations

I must be missing something, surely that would just be 1/2 seeing that you have just as many even numbers to choose from as you have odds...

    Distributed Computing

I am not getting through right now either, probably just a temporary server problem.

    Geometrical application of Calculus

    f(x)= 2x^3 - 3x^2 + 5x + 1 f'(x) = 6x^2 - 6x + 5 Solve for f'(x)=0: x = (6 + sqrt(-84)) / 12 No real solution therefore no turning points, if it has no turning points it must have 1 root.
