    Physics vs Chem

I did both and they were my two best subjects. I had good teachers for both subjects and I enjoyed the content, but if I had to choose one over the other, I'd have to say physics. Although let me stress, HSC physics is completely different from university physics. Do not allow yourselves to be...

Good Luck to the Class of 2006 from the Class of 2005

Hey everyone in the Class of 2006. I just wanted to wish you all good luck in the HSC, which is beginning tomorrow (don't forget :) ). Study well, don't push yourselves too hard, don't stress and just do your best. No one can ask more of you. Please remember that there are other paths into the...

    UAI estimates, anyone?

Hmmm, English will definitely drag you down. You need to improve that in the external exam. You also need to improve Physics. A UAI of 80 may be possible, but I'll be honest with you, it doesn't look good. Don't despair though. Work hard for the upcoming exams and you might boost your marks just...

    UAI, again.

By glancing at those results it looks as though you're set for a UAI between 85 and 90. Keep working hard and good luck!

    UAI prediction help plz :S

Take it from someone who has already done the HSC. Those marks will not earn you a UAI of 85+. You need to start pushing yourself really hard in order to gain a UAI of 85+. 4 hours of study per day at this time of year is not enough. Those marks should be an indication of that. However, if you...

    Can I get 78?

You need to push your marks up in legal, economics and biology. Then you should scrape a 78. You'll need a higher mark in General Maths. So study well, don't push yourself too hard and don't worry. At this point, there's nothing much else you can do but your very best.

    UAI Prediction

I hate to say this, but I very much doubt it. You would have to work extremely hard in order to scale those results into a high 80s UAI.

whys the uai going up for unsw engineering...dammit

Actually, someone before asked about bands and what kind of UAI you can expect, so I tried to give him some useful facts regarding other peoples' experiences. Maybe I should have quoted him so that you would know I wasn't just giving a life story for no damn reason. I hope that's cleared things...

Bands aren't a good indication of what UAI you'll get. It depends on the subject in which you get that band. You could get band 5's and 6's in subjects like Aboriginal Studies, General Mathematics, Standard English, Hospitality and Senior Science and your UAI will probably be no higher than...

    Biom 1010

Don't get me wrong, I'd recommend biomedical engineering to anyone. Just steer clear of the first year elective :)

Do you think you are screwed in the HSC?

Actually, no there isn't always next year. First year uni is the most demanding year of uni. There is a lot of work and there isn't much time to have fun until the mid year and end of year breaks. So enjoy the freedom you have while it lasts.

Well then, it's fortunate for me that I'm averaging a credit then isn't it? :)

Do you think you are screwed in the HSC?

That's right. I can guarantee that 99% of students don't do as much as they can. I could have done better if I had tried, but I couldn't have been bothered. I could've done much less as a matter of fact. I didn't allow myself to enjoy year 12 as much as I should've. Having a life is more...

whys the uai going up for unsw engineering...dammit

Exactly. It is important that you understand what is taught in your degree, but an employer is more interested in your innovative skills. I.e. can you anticipate a number of unforseen things and act appropriately. They also value leadership skills and initiative. That's probably why UNSW...

Do you think you are screwed in the HSC?

Ok it's time to reassure. It's not like I'm a parent telling my kids what it was like in my day, I'm only a year older than you guys. I did the HSC last year. Everyone thinks it will be harder than what it actually turns out to be. Don't use this as an excuse to underestimate the HSC, instead...

I agree it doesn't look good. But if you tell me ALL employers would NEVER hire someone with a pass average then I just couldn't accept that. If that was true then why bother being awarded the degree if it is useless (50<WAM<65)? To be hired, you would have to have honours class 2 at the very...

Excuse me, you're not even at uni (or at least that's how I interpret "HSC: N/A"). A credit average is very good! In high school a mark of 65 is a crap mark, but at uni it's a way for them to tell you "good on you! You’ve done more than we required/expected of you!". Emphasis on the word...

whys the uai going up for unsw engineering...dammit

I never do more than 10 hours of study per week and I'm still getting a credit average. It varies for each person. So don't take my post or politik's post as an excuse to over or under-study.

    Biom 1010

I'm one of the 70 students doing it this semester. We all thought it would be good, but in actual fact it is a terrible subject. No one can stand the syllabus, the lecturer or the assessments. The first test we did, only 4 people passed. The average was 35%. To those who are considering doing...

    What UAI did you get?

Well actually, the UAI indicates what kind of percentile you are in. But in a way, she is a ditzey blonde, lol.
