    Argh! Yay! It's OVERRRR!

i studied pretty hard for all the modules... and i used about a third of it, and had to make up some bodacious historian who happened to say what i did... but at least it was only one this time :D i did the athenian/delian league one too... was a nice and basic q. :)

    Argh! Yay! It's OVERRRR!

i hadnt seen any questions like the egypt to thut IV before... and the section II spartan bit... geography??? mountains. olive trees. nuff said. no one told me to study that... :( but i did ok. i actually liked my greece 500-440 essay...

    study for physics

i am so fed up with hearing about Hitler's testicle... its not funny anymore!!! ive broken physics up into about 9 core bits (relativity, motors, atomic/nuclear theory etc). i run through each section till i know it well, then move on to the next. when i understand the basic concepts, i can...

    bastard pop/mashup

there was a version of christina aguilera's (sp? whatever) genie in a bottle - lyrics over the strokes song, dunno which... it was possibly even worse than the original.

Crime Fiction Conmvention #1 - The intellectual game

i reckon thats a good convention to talk about. but not to the exclusion of the others. just enough to demonstrate sophisticated knowledge of the genre :D also how that isnt always a convention anymore - genre has changed. that convention is subverted 2 ways in RIH (birdboot and moon doing the...

How do you think you went?

you could be right... i am no expert. im not fussed anymore anyway... but i think you would need to get better than 85 to be scaled up. i reckon that alot of people would have gotten 85 or better in that exam.

    Commutators

Look at a diagram of electric motors. If there were no commutators, things would be a mess. There are 3 reasons commutators are necessary. Without commutators: 1. Coil would distort, as there would be no rotating forces when the loop had turned 90 degrees. 2. Conducting wires would twist up...

    Help!?

because we should only need 2 of our prescribed texts, SFOC and RIH are probably going to be better to study because they are much more flexible than BS, and have more focuses (historical, absurdism etc). BS would be harder to use if we get a hairy question. and if the creative question is like...

Personal research on IQ tests (proper and otherwise)?

IQ tests are inaccurate because theyre by and large designed by psychologists. which explains why psychologists invariably do well on them :p even if someone does get 150, it doesnt mean they are smarter than some one with a 100. it is dependent on how hard people can (or do) apply themselves...

How do you think you went?

That is scaled. Because it is a pretty simple course (with a small syllabus :) ) the marks are dragged down. I dont really know what the raw average was. But all the VET courses are poorly scaled.

    Historical persiod :ramesside

Yes. there are basically 4 essays for it, so the exam will cover just about all of the period. if youre feeling brave, you could focus on 1 or 2 aspects, but you then run the risk of having to do the hardest q's :(

How do you think you went?

IT scales poorly. Scaled mean last year was 21.1 (of 50) and 4uc maths was 45... So you have to really do well to even keep your raw mark.

    Help!?

theres some decent notes on RIH on this site. dont know much about the others, i had to write my own notes and they are illegible. basically you should know quotes, conventions, values, contexts etc, like in advanced english. your essay is supposed to be longer and more sophisticated than the...

How do you think you went?

yeah the ' at ' and ' at' tripped me up. but that was only 2 potential marks... and i think i got it anyway i did the EIS installation and the printer report thing... i will lose a couple of marks there cause it doesnt stick to report format precisely. how did you set out the EIS one?

How do you think you went?

I love IT exams. most of the exam requires no study, and i only really lose marks on section 3. pity about the scaling though :( but yeah i aced that exam :D

    Who is screwed in Maths?

chaos sounds good :D whats wrong with chaos anyway? means we can all sleep in.

    ??Research??

research past real-evil dudes and the effects that their evil-ness has had on society. statistically analyse this, and make conjections at key intervals of the story, so as to anticipate the trends of your real evil dude. make up strange and exotic names, and then justify them as allusions to...

Wot do u think u will get for ur UAI

Being in the top third of your grade doesnt guarantee a high UAI. I am dux at my school (first in 6 of 7 classes), and i would be surprised if i got more than 95. Though it is a small (and shitty) school. But top of your school grade does not indicate you will get top of the cohort. not to...
