Another angle to the IR reform debate http://radar.smh.com.au/archives/2005/06/strike_out.html

    Labor's Future

Agreed. It does reflect social changes but also the economic and structural changes which have taken place (ironically initiated by labor) e.g decline in primary sector, growth in services sector of the economy. And also increasing social mobility where ppl from less advantaged backgrounds are...

    The official IR reform thread!

Fair enough. But after talking to ppl i know who work in industrial relations, even they've told me they're uncertain as to the outcomes once changes take place. Even they're only speculating as to what will happen

    Latham's Book

Well that's a matter of personality differences. A bit of criticism is good but I just don't see the point of constant criticism over an isssue/topic if there aren't any suggestions offered. As to the fact that he no longer represents them, well there's a reason why he formerly aligned...

    Latham's Book

I haven't read the book but i think it's coming out tomorrow. From what i've heard so far, most of the comments about the book relate to Latham critising the Labour party as e.g "being a spent force", problems with leadership. It would just seem better to be constructive in his criticism...

    Latham's Book

I think it was Medicare Gold That comment goes two ways. Yes the Liberal party can be seen as "sucking up to everyone for the last decade", however, public have been suckers (for lack of a better word). The public are more attune to their own needs instead of the needs for the future (long...

    Latham's Book

From what is known about the book so far, it's not going to do anything beneficial for the Labor party. It seems rather confusing that a person who believes/ed in Labor would publish something that would do more harm than good. It seems it will only contribute to the weak image that the...

    The official IR reform thread!

Hmmm.... it's a bit dangerous to speculate though? No one knows exactly what the effects will be yet. You could start the debate up on a certain aspect e.g penalty rates but the changes which come in may not impact them. That's just an example.

    Overloading Question

I thought there was a rule about the min amount of time it takes a student to graduate? I recall reading somewhere that you're not allowed to graduate below the minimum time specified e..g B Commerce. Min time is 3 yrs. You can't get overload in order to graduate in 2.5 yrs

    Where are you all?

Yeh languages take up a lot of time. I THINK it's about 6 contact hours p/wk if done during session? Not sure but i'm guessing ppl would be doing it with normal ppl enrolled in those courses as part of their degree or as an elective
