    Distance Education

Um, I don't know if this will help any, but I do German and German ext. by Open High School. It's the same deal - send off work, get it back marked and more work comes. What I found good was the structure. I knew that I was meant to do 3 cover pages every 2 weeks, I knew exactly how many cover...

    Job Ideas

I heard fast food jobs were shit too. I desparately wanted out of Best&Less, so I applied and got one at Oporto. Guess what? I like it there a lot. I've had some customers from hell (but you can laugh afterwards - remember in fast food, you see them for minutes, not waiting on them for an hour!)...

    Quitting...

Are you interested in a reference? If so, you should be considerate. Give them a few weeks notice, talk to your manager/supervisor or whoever and say your piece. If you don't care but don't want to be rude, just go in and say you've come to turn in your badge - that's what I did at...

How did u Apply for u Job?

I wasn't bothered to go through the whole ColesMyer/woolies online saga. Some places where I asked got my to fill in application forms (KFC, Chickadee chicken etc.) I've always just trawled around the shops, resumes in hand, and asked if there were any positions vacant... so far it's got me...

    Is the customer always right?

I was referring to the first situation.

    free periods

None. :( A full timetable and I have to devote hrs of my time to German ext... it's meant to be 2-3, but I'm a bit crap so it takes way longer. :/

    No breaks while working casual

I worked for 6hrs at Oporto, no break... I was scheduled to work 12-3, but the manager asked me to come in at 10:30... then at 3, he asked if I could stay 1/2hr more, then another 1/2hr until it was 5:30, we were closed and I realised I'd worked so long with not even a 15 minute sit down break...

    Is the customer always right?

I gotta agree with Hatty here... although the mother is a bit of a dickwank going around proclaiming she's buying the booze for her kids. Maybe those weren't the best examples. I definately don't agree with the statement though, I have too many examples of how stupid some customers can be.

    English

I'm sick of all this literature and analysing texts shit. No wonder there are so many students who know bugger all grammar and spelling... and get a nasty shock when they try and learn another language but don't know what adverbs/pronouns/semantics are.

    Geo Notes

What year, specifically, were you after? Which case studies? I made some prelim notes, partly on KNP. PM me if you want them.

For anyone who got 99+: did you have a job?

I don't see what's wrong with having a job through the HSC... not even just for money, but if you think about all those other hobbies - sport, driving, going out, going to the beach - how much time do they take up? Did all the 99.something people give that up too? Most likely not. What's the...

    Dutch Continuers

Is it true that Dutch people can understand German? Or vice versa? I know there are a lot of similarities. Some Dutch guys my friends and I met reckon they could.

    best place to work

Dude, seriously, not all fast food is that bad. I work at Oporto, which is actually pretty fun. Nobody takes the stupid customers seriously ;) Also if you're out back doing the burgers, you can just sit around and talk to the other guys when there are no customers.

    books

I use looseleaf for study and class notes... if you carry a folder/binder around with you every day, you put them there and they don't get lost. the only subject i use a book for is maths, because I can't find that graph paper on looseleaf.

    Maccas workers united

Hmm... I work at Oporto (ok, well it's fast food at least) and they put me on front counter straight away. Spent 3minutes teaching me how to do chips and then showed me how to use registers and put an order together. I like it out front... I'm very glad I got put there straight away! :D even...

    Working 6-7 days/week

How many hours are you talking about? Because I work generally every day (Mon-Wed for 2hrs an arvo per day) and random shifts Thurs-Sun at Oporto, but it's not full time... I'm lucky if I can get 20hrs a week. So I'm not really that tired, but I wish I could have more shifts... or at least...

    Ext German 04ers

At least it's all over and done with... I'm about 8 weeks behind, according to my OHS weekly checklist. :( Do you do it through your school or DE/OHS? Really, he found it hard? At least he didn't have to waste time on learning new vocab, reciting verbs, finding out idioms... I'd like to think...

    Travelling in your Gap Year

I want to work as an au pair in Germany to improve my German and then travel around Austria, Switzerland, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Spain, France... everywhere. :D I'd like to go by Asia on the way back, maybe teaching English.

    Ext German 04ers

jt, you doing extention german this year? Me too... but I might drop it because I can't get motivated to work, since I'm on my own and it's hard for me... I wish I was one of those lucky native speakers. Anywho, we can try and motivate each other if you like. Have you got any of the standards...
