    Non-smokers: Would you date a smoker?

    Too much about smoking disgusts me, though an ex smoker or someone genuinely trying to give up I could.

    Oh, not working then ... I was trying to make a signature randomiser, but evidently it does work too well. :( Works best for IE, shittest for firefox.

    Scurvy the new scourge of uni life

    "Some people spend as little as 9 hours a week at uni" ~~ good for them. Next semester I have 26 contact hours per week - not including breaks or travel. I travel two hours a day, every day -- 36. Plus 6 hours of breaks its at 42hrs per week. Oh yeah, and then there is study and assessments and...

    Vertical Motion under Gravity help needed - ASAP

    For Q2 the time t is found when (x1 = x2) ie; -4.9t12 + v0t1 = -4.9t22 + v0t2 -4.9t2 + 48t = -4.9(t-2)2 + 48(t-2) 0 = 4*4.9t + -4*4.9 - 96 t = 489/49 = 9.98 s so x = -4.9(489/49)2 + 48*(489/49) = 5760/49 = 117.55 m

    a quick question

    I found the locus to be; y = - (4x)1/3, x=/=0 which makes sense if you consider xy=4 as y or x -> 0 or infinity since the MP -> 0. I can post calc if you want.

    what area of maths is your favorite

    I was put on the nanotechnology side ~ serves the material science engineers right because we slaughtered them. (EDIT: In a completely unrelated game) Personnally I wouldn't want to exclusively spend my life manipulating numbers in obscure numbers of dimensions and then prove something that...

    Everybody loves the Irish. Except this brown belt I know; he'd take any opportunity to beat the crap out of me for fun. Dr Moran is nice and she does research in ICP-AES. What amazes me most is I know what that stands for! *nothing to do with insane clown posse or internet cache protocol i...

    I was going to say as an alternative... 0 = sin2x - sin x - 1 = (sin x - 0.5)2 -1.25 ----> sin x = 0.5 +/- 1.250.5 sin x = 0.5 - 1.250.5 But that is how the quadratic formula is derivatised... 0 = ax2 + bx + c = a(x2 + 2.b/2a + (b/2a)2) - b2/4a + c ---> (b2-4ac)/4a2 = (x + b/2a)2...

    Friday you-know-what-his-name-is --> Duffy? We were taking 5 today and thought we'd economise on down time by eating bowls of left-over ice-cream and picking up our lab reports from chem. Then there was an awkward confrontation between us, Dr Duffy and Dr Moran. Suprise suprise Oanh broke...

    little help here.

    You could talk about how much energy is lost in transmittion of power through the power grid. Then say how wonderful it would be if we could put superconductors everywhere. Do a small aside about the history of superconductivity and the research into HTS. There exist plenty of whacky...
