Crouchie performed it against Hungary too :). I defy anyone who rates Ronaldo higher than Crouch :D :p

Messi is very much a star of the present. There is no one of his mold better in the group, Ronnie would testify to that. And no, RvN isn't in his mold.

Erm.. Argentina will qualify, it just won't be easy. Holland won't have it all their way either. It's not called the 'group of death' for nothing.

A word to the wise, typing in real words and sentences will go a long way towards getting people to actually read what you type. @politik- How did Chile do last time? Paraguay? Ecuador?

Tevez is a very different prospect to Robinho, and I'm sure he has a better chance of succeeding wherever he goes, if for no reason than the fact that he's built like an ox. The problem with Argentine wunderkinds though, is that they come out at the rate of about 1 every year. Most of the time...

Hi! :D Gotta disagree about Kalac. He's a fine keeper, but he's had no match practice for a year. That makes a rather big difference when it comes to selection I think :p

The problem with the world cup (and other international sporting events) is that perfectly rational people turn into utter dipshits on account of national/racial/ethnic pride... or maybe those people were always utter dipshits and were just waiting for an event like the world cup for those...

Nah, I mean Koreans and Japanese have a history of emnity. I guess not so much this generation. Hey, LMF and I are Chinese and we're supporting Australia..

Nakata and Cahill can't really be compared, as they're very different players. In his day Nakata was probably a higher calibre player, but right now Cahill's stock is much higher. Nakamura's Japan's no.1 player now anyway

Since when did Koreans support Japan against Australia

    What are you currently Reading?

I can't :p It's one my great regrets that I picked up French instead of Japanese back in high school But yes, I think the next Murakami novel will be out in 2010, a long way away. The next short story collection though, will be out either this month or next month on amazon :D Edit: Make that...

    What are you currently Reading?

Dance Dance Dance is way better than Kafka on the Shore, it's probably his most balanced novel to date.

Giggs.. Beckham.. Rooney.. Ronaldo.. Scholes. Any of those names ring a bell? :p You don't think barely playing for 2 years, and pretty much having no hope of ever being first choice again at the club is a good enough reason to leave? I'm not being harsh on Cudicini. The writing's on the wall...

    Tony Takitani (Murakami adaptation)

Yep, the 3 films are a loose trilogy. I think the connection between Days of Being Wild and 2046 is that woman Leung's character meets in Singapore (in 2046). She was the girl that Zhang's character had left behind in Hong Kong. And yeah, you definitely get a similar vibe from Murakami and...

A young player who wants to develop (and has any sense) wouldn't choose Chelsea over United, it's just that simple. As for doubting whether any player is in it just for the money, you only have to look at exhibit A. Chelsea's own number 2 keeper Carlo Cudicini. A top class goalie who's as good...
