    help please

    Mercury is toxic: • Minimata (Japan)(~1953) — Hg2+ in bay from industry; enters food-chain & seafood; 52-1400 die, many — 30,000 in some estimates — permanently affected. • Guatemala(~1962-5) — spate of ‘encephalitis’ in poor children actually Hg poisoning from eating Hg-treated grain...

    SHM and Projectile Motion questions

    By geometry; (5t)2/h = ((Vh - 10) t + 5 t )2 / 2 h 2(5)2= (Vh -5)2 50 = 25 - 10 Vh + Vh2 Vh2 - 10 Vh -25 = 0 Vh = (10 +/- sqrt(100+100))/2 = 5 (1 +/- sqrt(2)) but Vh is larger than 10 so; Vh = 5 (1 + sqrt(2))

    2 syllabus points i need help with

    Depends, in electrolysis; 2H2O ---> O2 + 4H+ + 4e- Eo = -1.23V oxidation 2H2O + 2e----> H2 + 2OH- Eo = -0.83V reduction 2H2O ---> O2 + 2H2 Eo = -2.89V as a cell; O2 + 4H+ + 4e- ---> 2H2O Eo = 1.23V reduction H2 + 2OH----> 2H2O + 2e- Eo = 0.83V oxidation O2 + 2H2 ---> 2H2O Eo =...

    Omg- Harry Potter 6 is complete!

    I mean to say if you don't preorder it you are unlikely to get it on the release day. I wasn't suggesting that there was a book conspiracy. The mass hysteria has really turned me off Harry Potter.

    Is friction a constant or a fraction of travelling speed?

    Inhomogeneities in the road material means subtle variations elastic modulus of the material. Different elastic modulus means more of less give for your load. As it gives more or less the car is accelerated up or down very quickly; just not for very far .. in the realm of micrometers...

    Is friction a constant or a fraction of travelling speed?

    Actually, that is an assumption of your model.

    What elective are you choosing?

    I remember back in the HSC our teacher took a year off. Then we were so far behind because of non-chem substitutes that we were given essentially a dot point summary to read over study break as our elective. Luckily it was shipwrecks where there isn't much new :D

    isomers of haloalkanes

    All you need to do is identify differences based on empirical formulas. All you need to know about is, say the difference between isobutane and butane, 1-chlorobutane and 2-chlorobutane etc. Geometric and optical isomerism comes into play when you consider a molecule in three dimensions...

    Rounding off answers -- whats the rule?

    Also consider that much of physics is a model of the real world, and not a perfect model. Mathematicians desire for exactness caused engineers and theoreticians to not see eye-to-eye for centuries. What I am trying to say is physics calculations are never a true relation and therefore...

    Rounding off answers -- whats the rule?

    For chemistry it is as many significant figures as the least amount of significant figures in the data given. Never round off during a calculation and underline all your final answers (which will be in appropriate sig figs).

    Fertilizer Prac

    It is an investment of time as much as anything. I reckon it'd take about 3 hours (if Na2CO3 is ready to go). Barium can be replaced by strontium or radium at a pinch, but not calcium, beryllium or magnesium. I can't think of another way that is within your means to do that doesn't involve...

    Fertilizer Prac

    OK, that didn't work because chromate reacts first and the change is subtle... Any way this is an adaptation of another experiment so it should work (though it is a bit long winded)! btw filtration and dessication is boring but plausible (where's the pretty colours I ask?!!!?)...

    Fertilizer Prac

    I'd do a Br2+ titration, but this is all off the top of my head so I'm not too sure about any problems you come into. DISSOLVE IT HOWEVER POSSIBLE (if issued a solution skip to TITRATION) Accurately weigh approx. 2.0g of fertiliser and transfer to a beaker with 50mL of water and about 2mL...

    Electrolysis of NaCl

    For some critical Cl- concentration L : if [Cl-] < L 2H2O ---> O2 + 4H+ + 4e- Eo = -1.23V 2H2O + 2e----> H2 + 2OH- Eo = -0.83V 2H2O ---> O2 + 2H2 Eo = -2.89V Now E = Eo - RT/nF ln (1) E = -2.89V if [Cl-] > L 2Cl----> Cl2(g) + 2e- Eo = -1.36V 2H2O + 2e----> H2 + 2OH- Eo...

    another probaility question plz help

    The two events are mutually exclussive. For a: probability carl will pass is; %60 = 3/5 probability saraj will fail is; %100 - %90 = 1/10 probability carl will pass & saraj will fail; 1/10 x 3/5 = 3/50 For b: 'at least one of them will pass' is probably easier is you think it is...
