oh yeah i totally forgot about the water polo. we're in the runnings for a couple of medals in the basketball too (mostly for the women, the mens are a bit of an outside chance). BMX is new yeah? i never knew we were highly rated in that.

aussies guarenteed 2 gold in the sailing apparently. 1 crew has already won on points before the last race and the only way the other crew will lose the gold is if the silver medal contenders finish first and the aussies finish last. I can't see us winning many more golds with all the water...

Yeah aussies got creamed. Aw well, they weren't expected to win. Most of the other countries usually stack all their best rowers into the eights. 5:13ish for a winning time though, that's absolutely amazing.

introduce some mixed relays. An 800m runner, 400m runner, 200m runner and a 100m runner.

phelps won 3 gold in athens i think (2 or 3? medley, butterfly and relay?) He's probably the greatest swimmer to have graced the pool, but i reckon he won't be considered as the greatest olympian until we see how he does in London. Dominating an event for 3 or more olympics consecutively rather...

mellouli actually did get suspended for drugs a couple of years ago. I hope someone (anyone) can pip the americans today in the relay to deny phelps number 8 for the lulz

haha aw, so close. those damn brits just flew home in the fours. good work though, 2 golds, 1 silver, bumps us up to 4th i think. edit: on a completely unrelated note, they should replace the equestrian events with jousting

holy shit those were awesome races. drew ginn and duncan free pretty much rowed the perfect race (bit worrying near the end with the buoys though). The aussie double scull really held their composure well too when the brits started to make a move.

Greatest swimmer? probably, i dunno about greatest olympian. We'll see after London imo.

geez that pool's fast this year. I read somewhere they installed small fans or something into the lane ropes to cut down on wash from other lanes (plus 2 extra lanes) and optimized depth or something (not too deep so that you lose your sense of vision but not too shallow that you're affected by...
