2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Senate preferences. Highlights: -Coalition's top preference is the CDP. The coalition is rapidly burning the extremely few remaining bridges to my vote. -If you needed any more proof that Family First are raging hypocrites, here it is! After their squealing and whining about Labor preferencing...

StuVac & Exam Period Bitch and Moan Thread (II, 2007)

Re: StuVac & Exam Period Bitch and Moan Thread (I, 2007) Library survey last year said that these are the areas where they should improve: Numbers 5 and 9 should be much higher. The library's collection is fantastic, how could it be so problematic that it's six places above the shortage of...

StuVac & Exam Period Bitch and Moan Thread (II, 2007)

Re: StuVac & Exam Period Bitch and Moan Thread (I, 2007) Yeah, after about Week 6-7 of semester Fisher gets completely packed. Hopefully it'll be better once the SciTech library opens next year and all the science students decamp there. I'm mega-screwed for Geopolitics. But I've found a...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Yeah, the primaries were on Lateline yesterday and the 2PP was on the ABC site this afternoon. But as Galaxy's electorate polls tend to be fairly small samples, 52-48 is probably within the margin of error. Guess we'll find out tomorrow. RIP Peter Andren. He seemed like a good guy.

    What are you currently Reading?

His Dark Materials is awesome. Hope the movie's good. (As for Eragon: I thought that the movie was worse than the book, but the book wasn't particularly great either.) I've put reading on hold for a bit because of exams, but I'm in the middle of The Source by James Michener (massive brick of a...

Mystery solved. Wikipedia: So to start with, women were enfranchised for federal elections if their state so legislated, but in 1902 the federal government created a uniform system.

Maybe not to stand for parliament? I have no idea. AFAIK women didn't have the right to vote in all states until 1907.

For the Senate: why is Pauline's group called 'Pauline'? Isn't it the United Australia Party? Also, anyone with details on the following parties, feel free to inform your fellow voters: -Hear Our Voice -Conservatives for Climate and Environment -Non-Custodial Parents Party (Equal Parenting)...

Who is going to vote liberal?

Comments made by a senior shadow minister that weren't recorded and which were, according to two out of the three people party to the conversation, inaccurately reported by a radio hack, and are being blown out of proportion by a media looking to find an interesting story.

Who is going to vote liberal?

Wooo anecdotal evidence. Perhaps we should actually work on a long-term policy that provides opportunities for people to get off welfare, rather than making emotional appeals about how It's For The Children! and ignoring the real issues.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Here's my current voting plan: Would've given the Democrats my first preference, but they're not running a candidate in Macquarie, more's the pity. I might have to think a bit more about who I want to put last, there are so many tempting choices. I like the way that the LDP has decided to list...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Yeah, Wilkins said that on Nine News. But nice to see The Australian indulging in its typical anti-Labor hyperbole. "The gaffe of the campaign"? "May have a major impact on Labor's chances"?

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Certainly am! But I won't be on the floor sobbing or slitting my wrists or anything if Labor doesn't win. If the voters decide to reelect Howard, then that's democracy, and I can deal with it.

    Should i fight the charge?

So? Your speed wasn't 1km/h less. What exactly would going to court achieve? Do you have any evidence to suggest that the speed camera was wrong? If not, all you'll do is waste your money and end up with a higher penalty.
