    Grad Law Entry

Guideline for grad law at Sydney is UAI 90+ and a high credit average, so I'd say you're looking good.

    Labor's VSU alternative

HECS-HELP debts don't incur interest. (Well, technically they incur interest at CPI level, but in real terms there isn't any.)

    Labor's VSU alternative

The difference is that instead of compulsory upfront union fees, there'd be a compulsory fee added to your HECS debt. (Or, technically, your HELP debt.)

    Uni course selections

You submit your application in your last term of school, before you sit the HSC, but you can change your preferences up until a couple of weeks after you get your UAI.

HSC Study day @ USyd 19th May (TOMORROW)

Pretty common amongst English teachers. Particularly the ones at study days.

    Philosophy at UNSW

+ there are other courses with lower UAIs that let you concentrate on Arts stuff. B Arts and Sciences at Sydney, for example, which has a UAI of 75.

    Semester I Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread! Gah, I swear I will never underestimate the fiddliness of archaeology workshop tasks again. I need more coffee.

    Survivor Fiji

OK, if anyone's interested Fiji will be starting on Nine this Sunday at 10.30. Good to know that Nine respects the show enough to give it that fantastic timeslot.

    Australia & Zimbabwe

I love the way that the Zimbabwean ambassador last week was going "How could you do this? Won't you think of the ZIMBABWEAN CHILDREN?". Maybe they can work on the whole thing with stopping hyperinflation and preventing political oppression, which I'm sure the children will appreciate a lot more.

I think they accept absences if you give them a medical certificate.

Extremist group 'planned to run Australia'

Mmm, sanity. Apparently he also wanted to abolish taxation. Fine sentiment, but it might get a bit difficult to govern without money.

    answer this question

I think by 'the mininum' they mean 'the lower of'. That's the only way it seems to make sense. Therefore, it's saying that if your exam mark is <54, your overall assessment mark will be either 64 or the mark calculated from all your assessments, whichever is the lower. So if you ace all the...

    Serbia Won Eurovision

You don't have to be European to be part of Eurovision. You just have to be part of the Eurovision Broadcasting Network or something, which includes most of North Africa as well. Algeria, Egypt and Morocco could participate if they wanted to. I didn't see what was so great about the Dutch entry...

Survivor: Fiji (for those watching the US eps)

I like Boo. He's not the brightest crayon in the box, but he's harmless. Earl is just arrogant and smug. Like last episode where he was going "They'll never flip. I was winking at them and I know they won't flip." While, as it turns out, they were planning to flip. And also the thing where he...

Survivor: Fiji (for those watching the US eps)

I absolutely hate Fiji, mainly because I can't stand Yau Man and Earl. I've only been staying with it for the promise of the most controversial decision ever made by a survivor or whatever they said in the promo at the end of CI. (Which is possibly in the episode I'm in the middle of getting, so...

PM to Seize Uni Control from State Governments

How dare people study something they're interested in rather than something strictly vocational!

    Whu r b u voting 4

39% isn't an outright majority. It's presumably a plurality, and it's significantly more than the quota, but it's not an outright majority. [/nitpick]

The Melbourne Model: Thoughts and Opinions

I don't mind the idea of compulsory generalist study, but the Melbourne Model isn't it. It still allows you to do, say, commerce or economics without touching the liberal arts, and vice versa. This isn't Harvard's core curriculum or UNSW's general education program. It's a shameless grab for...
