class of 06. Post ur university prefrences

My top preferences, as they'll probably pan out: USYD Arts/Law - 99.55 USYD Arts (Languages) - 98.15 USYD Arts - 83.00 I'll probably end up putting others from UNSW and MACQ in as backups (although I doubt that I'd get below 83ish for Sydney Arts). Sydney because its Arts faculty offers far...

    UAI Estimates

I'd say my assessment marks will probably be roughly the same as those trial marks (Ancient, Modern, Ext Hist and maybe Eng probably a bit higher).

    Pick It Up!!!!

Well, whether a topic is interesting is pretty objective. What sort of historical periods/issues/debates are you interested in?

    UAI Estimates

I recognise that UAI estimating is a bit of an inexact science, but anyone care to hazard a guess on what sort of UAI I'm looking at? Haven't got assessment marks yet, so I'll give my trial marks, and make a guess at where I'm ranked in the grade overall, given my most recent marks and the...

    new option study

The exam on Conflict in Europe 1935-45 (or whatever it's called) is a choice of two essays drawn from the Key Features and Issues in the syllabus. So it might be something like 'To what extent was Operation Barbarossa responsible for German defeat?' or 'What were the major causes of the Second...

    UAC Applications!

Yeah, you'd get your parents to pay it with their credit card. Or you can apply by phone, in which case it's charged to your phone bill (although it'll probably cost a fortune if you do it from a mobile).

    Ranking Myths

Rox88, if you're coming last in assessments and come first in the exam, you will: -Receive, as your assessment mark, the lowest external exam mark for your class -Receive, as your exam mark, the mark you actually got in the exam. You always keep your exam mark, but your assessment mark will be...

Class of 06 Post up your trial results and ranks

    English Advanced Total - 82% (no idea of the rank) Paper 1 - 93% Paper 2 - 73% 2U Maths - 92% (2nd in the course, I think) Extension 1 Maths - 47% (but I was second in our class, top was only 53%, so I don't count that as a fail. In my own imagination, I didn't fail.) Chemistry - 81%...

Is This A Normal Study Pattern (For Trials)?

Hell, I probably did less than what you're doing. (Our trials finished today, thank the Lord, Mary Mother of God, Allah, Christ, Jehovah, Buddha, Vishnu and whoever else you might like.) I did well enough, through my time-honoured technique of cramming the night before or (for afternoon exams)...

    CSSA Trial

Pompeii and Herculaneum wasn't great, for the first question I had no idea what the photo was so I just guessed a fullery. Last question I just talked about the Villa of the Papyri and about red tape in the approvals process. Hopefully partial marks for that. Sparta - not that bad, actually. I...

Catholic trials 2006. how r they?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I think I may have screwed the entire thing by squaring it. Maybe I should have actually learnt the concept behind Simpson's rule instead of just memorising it and applying it blindly. Pah. Concepts are for wimps.

Catholic trials 2006. how r they?

Apparently the Catholic trial people think you do. (Now I'm getting paranoid that I misread the question.)

Catholic trials 2006. how r they?

2U was OK today except for that CD question and those stupid circles. I thought some of the stuff was a bit nasty. I do 3U, and some of the stuff in there (eg the rates of change) was verging on stuff our 2U people haven't done. You'd think our Maths department would edit that out, but...

    Ethical issues in Pompeii

Cool. That's actually a pretty easy question, I guess, you can just ramble about how there is no consistent moral guideline as to how old bodies have to be before you can display them.

    Ethical issues in Pompeii

One of the points from the syllabus for the core is 'Ethical issues: study and display of human remains'. Since this is mainly based on your own opinions, would they be likely to ask this in the exam, and if so what sort of form would the question take?

    Work load for Ext. History

The workload's not really that high, in my experience: if you don't count the major project, once you understand the ideas of postmodernist history there's really nothing to it. For the exams, there isn't really that much you have to know, as long as you have your own opinions on things.

    Electorates

Wow. When the AEC say electorates should have common interests and profiles, they damn well ignore their own guidelines and put the bohemians in with Vaucluse. That'll be a seat to watch.

Is Wentworth moving south to Coogee as well, or is it just going to move west?

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Re: 2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Beazley? The unions' role in the ALP is formal, but only at Conference level and so on, which sets only the general thrust of policy. Day-to-day policy decisions are made by the Cabinet/Shadow Cabinet and the Caucus, which obviously...

    Electorates

Fair enough. I don't actually know much about where Andren's base is, but his problem is that he loses almost all of his electorate, only keeping the Orange area (as far as I know). Redistributions of that magnitude are always hard for independents because they're not known in the new areas, but...
