i also do quanta and what you are saying sounds correct. but you are looking too much into the question. for each sample in AAS you use a lamp which emits light of a wavelength known to be absorbed by the element you are testing for.. since you do Q2Q you should know that the wavelength...

yeah i said the same for flame tests... flame tests could distinguish the solutions... but i dont think a flame test can be used to identify a solution of sodium carbonate as it would give the same colour as sodium chloride

im pretty sure it was what volume of 0.005 mol/L KOH solution is needed to neutralise a sulfuric acid solution which was originally 0.005 mol/L solution, but had been diluted by a factor of 10 (pH increase by 1) thats basically it

    Industrial Chemistry (Equilibrium model)

i wish i had actually performed a first-hand investigation that modelled an equilibrium... ive never performed such an investigation. all i had was the beads model from surfing chemistry. but i foolishly skipped over that page thinking it was simply to help people understand what an equilibrium...

    Chemistry scaling

Do all of the option topics scale the same? Is it designed so that they are all equally hard? Or are the option topics (section II) marks compared with the section I marks to calculate scaling for each option topic. For example, Two people get 90% in Section I. One student does Industrial...

    Option: Industrial Chemistry

The temperature didnt affect calculations at all. We were given the concentrations, and simply used those as we usually would to calculate the equilibrium constant, K. I think 373K was put there to test whether people understood the theory and see if anyone was fooled.

    Industrial Chemistry (Equilibrium model)

i just disagree with part ii of the question... i see absolutely no risk (at least one thats worth a worth) with using a model. I think this part of the question through a lot of people off.

    Industrial Chemistry (Equilibrium model)

Did anyone else write an experiment instead of a model??? Do you think I will get 0/6 because i wrote an experiment? I used the thiocyanate test for iron (III)

i agree... i carefully noticed that the question said IDENTIFY these compounds... not DISTINGUISH them... if you use a flame test on a solution of sodium carbonate, you can deduce that it contains sodium, but not carbonate.

i was very confused... i assumed it meant model not experiment... BUT, what risks are involved with a model?

it is also required to initiate the reaction as it removes hydrogen from the carboxylic acid and hydroxy group from the alcohol

theres no such thing as "concentration" for a solid so therefore you dont include it
