I do 15-16hrs per week but depends if i go to lecs, but either way i have to do extra work out of hours so it all works out. My big w hours are only a few each day as i do recovery and with the hospital itll be only 2 or maybe 3 8hrs shifts which arent that gruelling depending on the pt im...

What is the best place in NSW to do nursing?

Wow u guys only do 2 weeks in first yr at UWS :O Yea at UTS in first yr we did 4 weeks of placement and in 2nd yr it was 5 weeks, all during the semester so it allows you to combine your theory with practical skills and doesnt eat up your holiday time such as other uni placements. Ummm i...

    Big W

Pay rate is roughly around 10.20ish or it oculd be more now. Ive been at the store for nearly 5 yrs now, working as recovery/service associate. It just depends if you are willing to work hard and handle messy and annoying customers and the place looking like a hell hole at the end of everyday...

Questions from a prospective student! (please help)

Yea it doesnt overly hurt. Umm gosh i can't even remember orientation that well. Pretty sure i went to most days, i met a few ppl from the course on those days, but the orientation days werent that helpful, one was a complete waste of time i left after the first few hrs cause it entailed all...

Questions from a prospective student! (please help)

Mantoux tests are usually done by specific centres or pathology places, your dr will prob refer you to one. It does take a while to get into these places, so once u get your vaccine card at the orientation day, start getting the stuff ticked off, itll make it easier once clinical comes around.

Questions from a prospective student! (please help)

I think they have changed clinical this yr for first yrs... so maybe a first yr on here could answer that, but yea u do 1 week either the 1st or the 2nd, its split cause of the no. of places. They try to place u as close to your home as possible but you can't specify a hospital. Once the...

Questions from a prospective student! (please help)

Ok basically in first yr u do 2 nursing subs e.g. adult nursing resp and adult nursing cardio plus a pathophysiology and a tut-based subject e.g. discipline of nursing. With the 2 Adult nursing subs they run for 1/2 the sem each. So first approx 7 weeks you will do cardio and then the next 7...

Questions from a prospective student! (please help)

Depends what youve had done. You may need to get a mantoux test done, but most others are common, as long as you have documentation for it all (or ur doc does) then you should be sweet.

Questions from a prospective student! (please help)

Blood collection is an accreditation you are taught in your hospital as an RN, we do not learn this at uni. Other pathology stuff such as urine, sputem, stool specimens we are taught to collect and how to send off etc.

nursing as a undergrad course for graduate med

In terms of preparing you for the basis of medical/health knowledge and an understanding of how health care systems work yes definately. It may not prepare entirely for some aspects of the GAMSAT, but if you are dedicated that shouldnt be too hard. But as Wooz stated, would you be happy with...
