I think critics are still important but its more about proving your own points by alluding to them rather than just stating what they thought. Depends on the question really but it seems they are going in that direction.

I just start the paragraph with something like "Opining personally, KL blah blah"

Ok. I was told that the 2006 changes were more a rewording of the syllabus rather than anything major at all. The lady said that readings were given less of an emphasis, and that it is ideal to allude to your readings and tie these to your discussion regarding the question, rather than discuss...

Fuck that! If we get some question asking about relationships or characterisation rather than how texts are read differently over time I'm going to be really cut :( Edit: I'm going to call the advice line about this.

What was the amendment? I can't find it. But the 2007 question was highly worrying. The markers notes said the use of the word 'ultimately' implied over time and hence context which incorporates readings in a sense, but they were very explicit in saying that an understanding of the text must not...
