    Help Alpha + Betaz

thats true, but I feel I NEED to say that you do NOT need to do that verification thing alpha satisfies x+1/x = 5 since it's a root that's all you need. and that's why its put as part(i) if you need that verification then you'll be asked alpha+beta first before alpha+1/alpha

    Q4(c)(iii): x=acos(nt+@) v=-ansin(nt+@) put "t=0 and x=1" and "t=0 and v=4" into the two expressions and you know the quadrant of @ Q6(iii) 1/(n+1) < [lnx]nn+1 < 1/n 1/(n+1) < ln([n+1]/n) < 1/n Noting that [n+1]/n = 1 + 1/n, and considering the two inequalities...

    Simple harmonic motion

    well assuming u can quote x=asin(nt+@) or x=acos(nt+@), just choose one of them, say x=asin(nt+@) but since x dot dot = -4x = -n2x, n=2 x=asin(2t+@) x dot or v=2acos(2t+@) then put t=0 to both, you get 3=asin@ --(1) -6root3=2acos@ --(2) Square equation 1 then square...

    Help Alpha + Betaz

    To clear up the confusion: x + 1/x = 5 has roots a and b (i) a + 1/a = 5, since a satisfies the equation x + 1/x = 5. (ii) We can re-write the equation as x2 + 1 = 5x x2 - 5x + 1 = 0 because it will still have the same roots or solutions as x + 1/x = 5...

    Imaginary numbers? So last century.

oh theres a very obvious flaw in that statement if you relate that to your previous post. If you were the postman, you would know whether the medal is already in the mail or not because you're delivering it yourself. Therefore, by proof of contradiction, you're not the postman.
