    3rd year LAW

Mj, it's selected on the basis of the statement of interest... (about a page in length from memory). The law journals are GPA based, though even then a good statement of interest could compensate for a less than perfect GPA.

    what is macq communications like?

Plus MQ has links with AFTRS...heck we pretty much share the same campus. An old friend of mine who did a BA in media and cul got into radio quite easily - fbi initially but then sold out to 2day fm. haha. Oh, we share 2SER with UTS...but yeah, it seems we definately offer more course wise.

    3rd year LAW

Yeah, I'm sure she meant 3 units at 4cp each. It sounds like you're unnecessarily overloading iwannarock. A standard load at 300-level for combined law is 12cp of law and 12cp of the other degree at 300-level.. "but for arts you need 18 credit points at 300 level " That's for an Arts degree...

    3rd year LAW

Well you can leave Remedies for 5th year and do 3 electives for sem 1 next year. But it's better to get Remedies out of the way in 4th year. So really, you should do property law over const if you could do only 1 (though as MJ said, most people take the 2 subjects concurrently). I've found it...

    VSU? EFS to the rescue..

I think the Ball prices might increase as they are generally a loss making venture for societies. Ticket prices will have to increase to break even if there is less funding for societies. Having said that, the socs with mostly private funding, such as MULS won't notice the difference.

    VSU? EFS to the rescue..

Well it's not clear how much EFS contributed, though the article does make it sound like a signficant amount. It sounds like a one-off for this transitional year. EFS is up to its figurative eyeballs in money so a small contribution is hardly gonna hurt the kitty.

    New To Mac!!!

Sheesh. Your lack of knowledge is pitiful. Tsk tsk...where's the MQ love? True, there are copious amounts of alcohol drunk by all. But saying that as a proud Macquarie student is akin to a Christian saying Christmas is just about presents. Conception Day is the celeberation of the conception...

    VSU? EFS to the rescue..

Interesting article on the mq offical website about EFS subsidising the costs of running amenities in response to the inevitable student apathy that will come with VSU. VSU? Commerce Division comes to the rescue of student amenities at Macquarie January 23, 2006 It will be...

    Seminar's

Well the crim tutes are essentially seminars...so you've already had experience in them. Basically like a tute where you learn new material. I think the term lecture/tute/seminar are quite often interchangeable in law.

On Aussie Unis and Unis Popularly Shown On TV/Movies

From the top of my head, the character of Helen Gamble on the The Practice (played by Lara Flynn Boyle went to Havard, the character of Valerie from Channel 9's 'What I Like About You' is a Columbia grad and Sandy from the OC (Seth's dad) is a true liberal from the left leaning Berkeley. Also a...

    Stuffed up preferences

I used to get paid to do stuff like that for the PR department. I think Skittled works for PR now.. Well, I think mentoring can go someway to helping...though some people really can't be helped!

    Who is going to MAQ?

Yeah, my mate's organising it. I've been a to a couple myself, one as a newbie and one as a law society exec, and I had the best time at both - lots of drinking, making new friends and being generally merry!

Considering none of the library funding comes from student fees, it would be ludicrous to provide any less of a service to those not paying the voluntary student fees come august.

    Macquarie Law Electives

In answer to Smokin Squirrel's question in another thread about law electives, here a brief critique on the one's I've done: LAW407 - Labour Law Taught by a socialist from the public law department. 2-2.5 hours a week of class, no assignments, 90% open-book, sit down final exam. I thoroughly...
