I'm facing the exact same problem, haha. I'm basically two weeks behind, because it took me a while to understand most of week 2's content, and now I'm trying to understand week 3's content for my quiz tomorrow. FINS1613 is hard, ugh. I don't think that Finance will suit me for my major... but...
I don't know. To try and force myself to stop going to lectures for the first time in my life, I guess. *shrug*
But yeah, I see where you're coming from. Welcome to the ASB, haha.
Sociable is not in my blood, haha. I'm introverted.
But I'm fine with or without friends. Unless I'm stuck in an extremely boring lecture that doesn't actually teach me anything.
Yes, thank god! I was worried. I'm still going to study my butt off, but I'm glad that the quiz isn't too hard...
I'm trying the second and the third option. The third option works the best. The second option doesn't apply to my MGMT lectures because I sit in the front and everyone sits in the back. I'm not willing to compromise my front seat for more friends. ;P
Edit: Also, making friends in Finance...
I like the campus food court near the library. I always go to the Thai/Indonesian/Southeast Asian store and order a rice meal with two side dishes. Total cost is $7.80 and it fills me up quite well, which is saying a lot, because for a girl, I eat like a pig. >w>;
The store right across that...
They are recorded, but it usually takes a few days before the lecture recordings are put online.
And for me, the difference between MGMT1001 lectures and FINS1613 lectures is the lecturers. I attend all of my MGMT1001 lectures because the lecturers break down what's on the slide into simpler...
That explains it. You probably had a better lecturer, haha. ;D (Lucky you.)
Seeing as how I'm still awake at this ungodly hour, I'll probably skip tomorrow's lecture. Took a look at the slides and they seem to explain the content well enough, so I can't be bothered going.
On the upper floors, there are many study rooms with glass doors that you can just enter and study in. You can also just sit down on any random desk and chair and start studying. The ASB is generally pretty quiet, especially early in the morning, so it's a great place to study in.
And if you...
Then thank you for the compliment. Sorry, it's just that on the Internet, you're never really sure whether something is meant to be sarcastic or a genuine compliment, so I had to make sure. ;)
My family decided to raise me with English as my first language so that I would be prepared to travel...
I hope that wasn't sarcastic. ;D
But thank you. I might be an international student, but my first language is English. At home, I speak English. The only other language that I'm fluent in is Japanese, and I'm not entirely fluent in that...
Everyone has their own group of friends. Cue the world's smallest violin.
This. Or since I live just 15 minutes away from uni, I'd rather go home and do work.
There are doors at the top? I'll have to sit there next time.
Economics! I'm actually finding it more fun than Finance. And I used...
Note that you can only do the above if you're an Australian citizen. If you're an international student, like I am, it's mandatory to have 4 classes per semester.
An hour is better than me. I think zehurricane saw me sleeping 15 minutes into the very first lecture we had. It was just so, ugh, boring.
I'd show up if I had friends. But everyone in the lecture theater already has their own group of friends, so I'm pretty much left with nobody to talk to...
How do you survive? I swear, that place is a hellhole. All my other lectures are better than this one. I'm seriously going to ditch this one.
And I'm saying this as someone who used to attend all her classes even when she had a high fever. I'm also saying this as someone who kept attending all...
My parents care quite a bit if I skip any class. They grew up rather poor and had to pay for their own university educations, so they're really strict when it comes to me attending my classes. If I don't want to attend a class, I have to provide reasons why, tell them ahead of time, and get...
Pfft, I just feel bad if I don't ring 'em up. If I were the one paying for my education, I wouldn't give a damn, but I'm not. They are. So they have the right to know, and I have the responsibility to let 'em know.
Sucks, but that's the way I was raised. Asian here - all of us are scared to...
Thank god (or everything that's up there) that I'm not the only one thinking that it's a waste of time.
I've been brought up to be a good girl (damn) though, so the only way I can really skip my lectures is if I get my parents' permission to do so.
I guess I'll just be brave, ring them up, and...
I'm really contemplating on whether or not I should go.
Each time I sit down in that lecture room, I feel like I'm wasting two hours of my day on absolutely nothing. I sit down, take out a blank piece of paper and a pen, listen to the lecturer talk about stuff that I don't understand for two...
