Maybe look into different genres (especially the ones which interest you) and performance styles. I'm literally just writing what ever comes into my mind into my logbook and hoping to pass it off as research LOL

To put things in perspective, the amount of prescribed kanji used to be around 500 according to my teacher. In fact there was a whole component of the exam which consisted of them giving you the furigana and you writing the kanji... Aren't we lucky that they dumbed it down haha

That will actually give you an ATAR of 0 because you need at least 4 subjects to be eligible for an ATAR in the first place

I don't even use sparknotes anymore; the analysis is too simple for HSC imo. I think actually reading your texts and making an informed personal judgement is still the best. And I know English cops a lot of shit on the forum but I've actually learnt quite a bit from the texts I've studied :)

The film is called "Departures" or Okuribito in Japanese and it's a beautiful movie; it won the Oscar for best foreign film one year. Apparently there is a lot of "casual" language and as Japanese inflects differently depending on the level of politeness, it should be quite a challenge...

:D Have you watched the film yet? I might do the JLPT but I'm not sure what level to do :\ It does sound nice to have an actual "qualification" which puts those years spent learning Japanese on paper but another exam so...
