And I know of one friend who transferred from Mac to UNSW and said the complete opposite. To be honest, I couldn't care less about Club Mac. It's not a terrible university but I wouldn't go as far as to say it equals UNSW/USYD. Anything's better than UWS however.

There are different things for different people. For a start, most faculties have their own active society that every student of that faculty is automatically a member of (businesssoc/commsoc, lawsoc, medsoc, etc..). They usually hold regular events like camps and nights out in the city...
