'The Ellie Chronicles' - John Marsden

so did i, i think i stopped reading half way through six. i didn't like it going past 3 - i think it became ridiculous when they sent them back in - but the stories were good enough to keep my loyal for another couple of books. then i just gave up. Haven't looked into the ellie chrinicles...

    Books turned into movies

amen, i try and do the same. though bridget jones 2 was the one adaptation that i couldn't relax and go with, but that's more to do with issues of them remaking the first film, rather than filming the book. But generally, yep, i'm with you, see them as different texts and it'll be much less...

    best film mags?

i think empire's good, but i think it was a lot better when it first came down. not the stifling emphasis on blockbusters. And it's got very wanky. I've been rather disillusioned with empire since i went overseas and bought a copy of the british version - then came home a month later and...

though given that he's a heavy smoker it could be seen as considerate, chewing gum so she didn't have to kiss stinky smoke breath, lol.

    What movie should I see?

i would highly recommend batman, and mediumly recommend war of the worlds. i have heard only bad reports about herbie and sisterhood of the travelling pants from my friends, so maybe avoid them ;)

    Edgar allan poe

i think i used the black cat too (VCE though)... i loved studying poe, memories have been flooding back lately cuz i've made one of my friends read some of his storis. I don't think she made it right through Tales of Mystery and Imagination though! Loved the premature burial.

    Latest Blockbusters

argh, hard question (seriously), loved batman, star wars and smith, and also war (Iexcept for my problems with the 6-second-ending), and herbie i avoided. I think avoiding herbie may actually make it a little bit better... batman has it, christian bale was too damn good at convincing us that...

The I LOVE THE NOTEBOOK thread

i think she's ok (lohan) as an actor, i do, i just can't imagine her doing well if she steps out of her teen fluff zone and into serious roles with any depth. plus, in her acceptence speech at the mtv awards, i found her to be really insincere. whether or not she was is another story, but i...

The I LOVE THE NOTEBOOK thread

i'll give it a go at resussitating the thread as well ;) i am so damn mad that the lil cokehead won over rachel, or any of those actresses for that matter. I like mean girls, think lohan was funny in that, but my god, now that she's doing her paris hilton impersonation she couldn't look less...

The I LOVE THE NOTEBOOK thread

i really loved this movie too, it had more humour in it than i was expecting, which i think worked well. The ferris wheel scene at the start was fabulous. The two actors had such great chemistry, i thought it was amazing, and you can't go past the kiss ;) I read the book it was based on...

    Grease 2

random guy = maxwell caufield, british actor, plays rex manning in Empire Records for thos who need a visual! The principal and her assistant were also in the 2nd, and maybe the coach too (?). Grease 2 wasn't all bad, but that's not to say that it's good! Its a good-because-its-bad film, imho.

Movies that should never have been thought of...

^^^ re drumline post see, i could appreciate that they had skill, even though i have no idea about these things, i just thought that the movie had a bad premise and was really poorly acted - they seemed to run out of substance in the story early on and so kept dragging out cliches and tedium...

Movies that should never have been thought of...

Drumline. Horrible and agonising. i mean seriously, it's hard to create tension in a snare-off when most of the audience has no clue who's doing better - they both sound the same!! also, in the land of sequels, Bring It On Again. Terrbile. Rehashed jokes and characters from the first...
