stories and novels in second person..

Tim Winton's new short story book (The Turning) has one short story written in 2nd person... it could even be two, I can't remember, but there's at least one good, EFFECTIVE one :). Other than that, like glitterfairy I always think of choose your own adventure books!

Anti-Austen, or the author you like least

I hate the obsession with books that are harder to decipher than some bloody code! LOL it really annoys me! Written so you have to translate a sentence from english to english-that-makes-sense. Eg, Charles Dickens. Call me uncultured, but I don't understand why being completely obtuse is lauded...

    Conics q

I feel stoopid after staring at this for an hour. So productively I'll put it on here :D It's from the fitzpatrick textbook. Using cartesian coordinates, show that the sum of the distances from any point P on the ellipse x^2 / a^2 + y^2 / b^2 = 1 to the foci is equal to 2a. I have no...

    Tutoring

I charge $20/hour. It's about the best-paid job going around for school students :D It's a bit hard to find people initially, it's a bonus if your parents/friends have connections (eg. my mum is a TAFE teacher, and she gets a lot of calls for tutoring, so she passes some onto me) and little...

HAHAHAHAHA Postmodernism in a paragraph, that's funny :P (or contradictory... hrm...) ...

    How many periods a day?

Strange... we have exactly the same (38 min periods, 20 recess, 40 lunch) 'cept only have 8, and 6 on Tuesdays and 7 on Thursdays. AND, I get 12 free periods a week (admittedly I have a lot of offline classes). I think you learn more than me. I am not sure whether to complain or celebrate.

    Amelie

I've already done my assignment! Haha :) We handed them in last term. I'd be happy to send you my essay on it, I got full marks for it -- it's only 500 words though, we had a word limit (which was hard to stick to!). I'm going to expand on it if I use it in exams/trials/HSC, but I think I've got...

    Progress, (or lack thereof) ?

Gotta love short attention spans :D eg-- I have written maybe three pages (if I compile all the various scraps and round up significantly), but they're not in chronological order (and possibly not from the same story). Oh well. I'll throw them all together and call it post-modern :D

Related Material in a Different Language

I used 'Amelie' as related material -- French movie. Again it had subtitles, so I didn't even consider that it would be a problem... and I got full marks for my analysis, and no-one mentioned anything about it being in a different language... I don't think it's a problem :)

English Extension 2 (NEW CLASS of 2005!!!)

I definitely thought it would be appropriate :D Eliot's by far my favourite poet (and I'm not really a big fan of poetry in general!), "Lovesong" and "Rhapsody on a Windy Night" are my favourites. We did our proposal at the end of last term, so theoretically I have an idea to stick to...

English Extension 2 (NEW CLASS of 2005!!!)

Hrm. Read TS Eliot's "Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock" by any chance? If not, you definitely should, if those are the themes you're interested in (still -- is it just me or does it seem to change every few seconds -- even after I've done my official proposal!). It explores /exactly/ those...

What Is The Best Line/Verse in a Song

Ok so had to give another one... It's so corny but I like it :p Hey, don't write yourself off yet. It's only in your head you feel left out or looked down on. Just try your best, try everything you can. And don't you worry what they tell themselves when you're away. It just takes some...

    Should Slide Tackle Be Banned?

^^ I don't think it's shit to watch at all. And not all fouls are slide tackles, so it wouldn't completely eradicate stoppages anyway. Besides they're fun to do. :D

What Is The Best Line/Verse in a Song

Just before our love got lost you said "I am as constant as a northern star" and I said "constantly in the darkness where's that at if you want me I'll be in the bar" ... you're in my blood like holy wine you taste so bitter but so sweet Oh I could drink a case of you
