    Does anyone else suffer from long term procrastination?

    I suspect that when there’s something major, we subconsciously fear failing or doing it poorly, so we try to avoid doing it at all. If you’re going to procrastinate, try to do a smaller task first (as a procrastinating strategy), then complete more smaller tasks. The positive feeling of...

    biotechnologies = snoozefest

    Sorry synthesisFR, I did not mean to imply that this is how you study in general. I quoted your comment because you commented that 'memorising stuff' was 'boring' and that was an opportunity to make an important point. I've deleted my comment. Best wishes with your studies.

    What would be the best way to self learn the hsc physics course/concepts?

    Actually, he didn't work ahead in physics but he'd already finished Maths extension 2 in Year 11, so was quite strong in all the maths related areas of physics (vectors, trig, circular motion, calculus) and was able to work through the textbooks relatively quickly.

    What would be the best way to self learn the hsc physics course/concepts?

    My son went through all of Pearson and then skimmed Jacaranda for revision and scored 96 in Physics which is the highest mark ever at his school (which is not even ranked in the top 400 high schools) and over twenty marks ahead of all his classmates (to give an idea of his cohort). So, it is...

    Need help with some chemistry homework questions

    It’s the formula to calculate how many moles of silver (as ions in the silver nitrate solution) there are in the initial solution, by multiplying the volume of the solution (0.100L) by the concentration of silver nitrate (1.00 mol/L).

    Good study technique (study to understand, never rote learn - that was my advice to them) and good time management.

    Any advice in getting better at Chemistry?

    ^This. There is absolutely no substitute for understanding the content. If you don’t understand something that you read, take the effort to look it up or ask someone until you’re satisfied you understand it. Then you can build on a solid foundation of knowledge & understanding.

    ATAR and part time jobs

    How busy is the rest of your week? 1-2 afternoons a week or a weekend half day shouldn’t be an issue if you are organised. My youngest is also starting Yr 11 and spends two afternoons/evenings a week at a dance studio where she is both a student and a part time paid dance teacher. She did this...

    do graded math classes matter in year 9?

    Year 9 is the first time when the maths curriculum differentiates (into 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3). So long as you are studying the content of 5.3 and understand it all thoroughly, then all options are probably still available later, noting PP’s cautionary comments that many schools limit the number of...

    ANU offers through UAC

    Thanks very much MJRey. We did eventually find the same page which you kindly linked. it’s widely publicised by the media that today is the first main round of Uni offers so it’s unexpected that not all universities accessible via UAC are participating in this round.

    Hi, can anyone confirm or refute the following? DS only received an offer for his second choice through UAC. There was no information on the status of his application to ANU.
