any one else screwed for paper 2 englis -.-

Same here. I've got three scenes that I know very well and I need at least two to fit into my exam response. Fingers crossed...

    get penalised...?

Probably not if it's a one off. If you are getting the quotes wrong frequently they might deduct marks.

    How much did you write?

Shouldn't effect it too much if the answer is good quality. I've always received about 14/15 for mine when I only ever do 3-4 pages. (about 10 words a line but)

    How much did you write?

3, 4, 4 should be enough, it's more than I wrote for trials which got me 39/45

    strictly ballroom and places?

Those who do "The Crucible" know how you feel. Hopefully they scale the essays when they realise that everyone doing texts such as "Romulus my Father" is going well, when others are finding it hard to relate their text to 'place'.

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Word to this. Did not prepare for place at all with the Crucible. I ended up going on about how Proctor has committed adultery and therefore doesn't belong to Salem as it is a puritan society bla bla... I just tried my best to mould it to what I wanted.

    Quantity or Quality

Quality over quantity any day. As long as you answer the question correctly and back it up you're fine. Remember that some of those band 6 responses are some of the best in the state so don't compare yourself to them too much.

    Creative paper 1 whaaaaaat

Nothing to worry about, I'd expect it to be similar to every other year. Anyway, surely you'd only have to pick up an idea of belonging from the text. I know my prescribed text has isolation and belonging to a community, environment, family etc. Stop worrying guys, even if it does occur, 90% of...

    English paper 1

I'm not too worried about any of it, but I guess it's always possible I could get caught out with a creative writing question that I may not be able to relate to one of my ideas. Would highly doubt it though.

Regarding the AOS question for paper 1

It is possible. As Jay said, the HSC papers are written a long time before your trials (and locked away I think?)
  12. W

How well prepared are you for the HSC?

    Maths 4u - 8 Maths 3u - 8 English p1 - 8 English p2 - 5 (couldn't be fucked really) Physics - 7 Engineering studies - 9

    & instead of 'and'

Re: Probably a really dumb question =/ Go with "and", just to be safe.

How you feel about HSC ?

Excited. It doesn't phase me too much. I combat any negative thoughts or stress with the thought of the ever nearing 5 month holiday. Although I would probably be stressing if I hadn't done a consistent 3-4 hours study every day for the last 3 weeks.

How to write a conlcusion for English on the spot?

I always try to write a very strong conclusion, as one would assume this is the last thing that the markers read. Normally I link back to the question, and how I've shown it through my thesis and arguments. I always like to attach something cool as a last sentence, just to go out with a bang...

Who is confident for engineering studies??

I had a really great teacher so I've been listening all year. It helped me a lot just reading through the text books we had aswell. Alot of it seems to be understanding, like knowing something will be subjected to whatever, so it needs a material that has the property of whatever. Edit: A lot...

    End of Exams

I will probably head home with a couple of friends, preparing for the pub and the night out. Will be such an incredible feeling to hear that final "pens down". I don't think I would even be too worried if I flunked my physics exam (no chance :P ), the feeling of achievement will just overwhelm it.

Who is confident for engineering studies??

I'm fairly confident. Got 80% in the trials, and I hope to improve on that. (although the CSSA test seemed a lot easier than the past papers I have been doing)
  19. W

Do you think you are prepared?

You still have enough time to easily bring that up another 10%, you're probably better off than you think.

Raw marks required for band 6

Wow. This thread makes me feel so good. I always thought band 6 = 90%. This definitely makes me feel much more confident that I will achieve my ATAR goal.
