I used to listen for the first Term of Year 12. Then I stopped and realised that study/cramming was MUCH more efficient without music. Never listened to music again for anything study related (in the HSC)
I did 1 a day (only Maths) for 8 weeks then 12-14 hours a day (other subjects) in the week before exams.
Mind you, I never thought I'd get 99+. Cramming isn't a very secure method of study.
Yet to meet people who live in my area (who aren't people living at dorms/renting around uni) who go to UNSW. Maybe I should look harder. Everybody seems to be living in the West :/

Nah, but seriously, I'll be alright. When the pressure's on you'll cram and get a decent mark.
I agree with your parents. It's a BIG NO NO. I realised that I got very little work done when I was listening to music (even if it was soft, smooth instrumentals).
