    Week One: I DONT KNOW WHAT IM DOING. ;-;

    Remember: feeling stressed is normal, but if you are feeling overwhelmed: don't wait and have a chat with a counsellor, or an academic advisor, and think about the University's programs for mentoring and group work (I think it's called UPASS).

    questions about b business textbooks and study (please help!!)

    1. Check that you're completely enrolled, if so then tutes are your workshops. 2. Wait for the first lecture for all of your units and determine what you should buy and what you don't really need. 3. Everyone's different, but take notes, then revise those notes later, and then to cement into...

    Surely there aren't 600 rooms on one level of Building 4 lol one of the dumbest posts ever: "lol first years don't know rooms lol" duh? We've never been to the building? Kinda obvious.

    Why is everyone telling me not to buy textbooks ?

    Go to the UTS handbook and look at the detailed subject description. Prescribed and recommended texts are shown. Also the first lecture for your classes will also state the book you'll need (if any).

    How important is it to have the latest edition textbook?

    If your course requires the latest edition for homework (some units have special access homework where you need a code from the textbook to access the content) then you'll need it. Or if you're doing law you'll likely want the latest edition for example. For most cases, one or (maybe) two...

    Why is everyone telling me not to buy textbooks ?

    Mostly because a lot of units never actually utilise them to an extent where you absolutely need it and can't do without it. But if you have the budget for them, absolutely give them a shot. I'm against the "NEVER BUY TEXTBOOKS" crowd, but I also think that there are a lot of units that clearly...

    Did you go to the UTS orientation page and sign up for the events (like the grand welcome and the faculty welcomes?) If not it might be too late.

    Not sure the exact number, the City campus alone has like 12 or something main buildings? I HIGHLY recommend going to the faculty welcome if you haven't already. You'll be shown the main buildings for your degree.

    How do I know where to go on Day 1?

    Building 1 is the big "ugly tower", from there just follow any of the maps to figure out what building your lecture is in. In terms of the "code" in your timetable, here's an example. CB06.03.28 CB06 = Broadway (City) Building 6 03 = Level 3 28 = Room 28 Basically just remember: Building -...

    where do you buy textbooks?

    The Co-op on Broadway is probably your best bet. If you get a membership with them ($20 iirc) their prices are actually decent for new textbooks. If you want used ones then UTS campus has a second-hand bookstore.

    Can I use an expired passport as ID?

    Again that's up to them but there's no reason why they shouldn't. I'd bring along a printed paper from a Government organisation stating that fact and show it to the student central person in case they didn't know of that fact.
