    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Alright, lets go :D - Before WWI, one of the main source of ammonia for use as fertilisers was from saltpetre from Chile. - During WWI, these supplies were cut to Germany and thus, they required a new method of obtaining ammonia for essential food production. - The Haber Process provided a way...

Parramatta Library HSC Chemistry Trial Discussion

For question 19 where you have to choose the incorrect statement, one of the "correct" statements say: "Triatomic oxygen is a pungent and poisonous gas, while oxygen is a non-pungent gas. This difference is because triatomic oxygen have coordinate covalent bonds, while diatomic oxygen only have...

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Woah, I thought this thread had died because nobody posted for over a day and I log in now and there's like 5 new pages haha Anyway, what is this test? I've never heard of it before this thread and someone mentioned it before as well. Do we need to know this? :(

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

I don't think you would need to, I did the dry cell as well but did fine in this question when I saw it before because they give a labelled diagram of the cell with Lead and Sulfuric Acid shown so you can infer it. Edit: The dotpoint only requires you to know one and it'd be really harsh for...

    Eddy Currents Induction Cooktop

Ahh that makes much more sense, thank you! I was confused as you needed higher resistance for higher heat loss but also needed low resistance for there to be eddy currents, but relating to that equation, it makes sense :D

    Eddy Currents Induction Cooktop

Can someone (FizzyCyst pls help) explain why the answer here is C. I would have thought that it'd be D as high resistance would mean more heat given off due to resistive heating/friction.

I think you got trolled in question 5. A says that the MASS number is greater than 83, it would be right if it said atomic number. So I think the best answer here would be D haha?

    HSC Physics - 2014 Predictions

How can they even check if what you're saying for this question is true? Couldn't you technically say something like your uncle Bob and aunt Laura are physicists and study and research superconductors and how to use them for possible practical applications, elaborate on higher critical...

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

    1. Calculate the mass of anhydrous sodium carbonate required to prepare a certain volume and concentration of the solution. 2. Measure this mass of the solid on pre-weighed filter paper with an electronic balance. 3. Transfer the solid into a beaker with distilled water and stir with stirring...

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

    - Technetium-99m is used in medicine for medical diagnosis and tracing. - Tc-99m has varying oxidation states and is very reactive, allowing it to bind to many biological molecules for use inside the human body. For example, mixed with tin, Tc-99m can bind to red blood cells and trace blood...

    Predictions for Chemistry 2014 HSC?

Can I join in on this game? - As oxidation occurs at the anode, electrons are lost by the electrode and cations go into solution. This results in a build-up of positive charge in the oxidation half-cell. Similarly, as reduction occurs at the cathode, cations in solution gain electrons and...
