    Graduate Med

I cannot agree more with DanielJW. Do something you are interested in - that way you maximise your ability to excel in your preferred degree and therefore, your chances of getting into med. While a biomed degree may give you a better background than other degrees, everyone who gets into med...

    Is it possible...

If you miss out on an offer, you can always do something similar (BSc at UTS) and transfer after 1 year. It's really not the end of the world! Good luck.

Best Subjects to take in Bsc for Graduate Medicine/Dentistry

I would encourage you to take anatomy, physiology and pathology. I say these three because these areas require a lot of memorisation so it may be easier to remember the different structures/functions the second time around - the downside is you may easily forget them after a few months and you...

The well: The Students of Medical Science Society any questions you got

Yes it is correct you do not have to pay for your research degree if you are a local student. But you will find that most people doing a PhD have got a scholarship to support their daily living expenses. Most students would not want to study for another 3-4 years and have to support themselves...

    Vacation Employment for Science Students

I applied during August and September for a number of Summer Research Scholarships offered by my own or other Universities. It might be too late to apply for these now. I did a Summer Research Scholarship a the end of 2nd year, then again at the end of 3rd year. Then I got a research...

How long do you have to go until you finish your PhD? Are you starting to look for postdoc opportunities in the States already? I think the States offers some outstanding opportunties and it's worth a shot! I'm specialising in medical microbiology and immunology - essentially looking at how our...

I'm gla you've enjoyed the Cambridge experience. Who knows you might end up here doing a postdoc. Yes my plan is to come home after I'm done here (still a while to go yet), but this will also depends on what offers I get here. For example, if a Nobel Laureate asks me to work in his/her lab...

ANU is my dream university, but why there are so many negative sayings against it?

Re: ANU is my dream university, but why there are so many negative sayings against it All I'm trying to suggest is that the OP shouldn't pay too much attention to these rankings, especially when the OP is looking for an undergraduate commerce degree. Also, just because Cambridge outranks...

I've got a tough (but very good) supervisor who always pushes for results. So my thumb is pretty much dead from blisters after pipetting too much. Lab work aside, the architecture and history here is amazing, especially near the King's College Chapel. Have you had a chance to punt along River Cam?

ANU is my dream university, but why there are so many negative sayings against it?

Re: ANU is my dream university, but why there are so many negative sayings against it Yes but you half quoted my sentence. "Those rankings are mainly measuring how many papers have been published and how many times they have been cited, how many Nature and Science papers are published, they...

ANU is my dream university, but why there are so many negative sayings against it?

Re: ANU is my dream university, but why there are so many negative sayings against it The bottom line is, ANU won't be "omg it's crap". It is still a very good university and has high standards for their students. You will learn pretty much learn what other commerce students are learning at...

ANU is my dream university, but why there are so many negative sayings against it?

Re: ANU is my dream university, but why there are so many negative sayings against it Don't let those rankings fool you. They have nothing to do with the quality of your commerce undergraduate program. Those rankings are mainly measuring how many papers have been published and how many times...

A standard Australian Postgraduate Scholarship is about 21 k p.a. You might find it a bit hard to move out - but I still see people manage. If you are good, you can get the UNSW Research Excellence Award, which is worth 31 K p.a. This plus tutoring and demonstrating you are looking at about 36...

    Medicinal chemistry

You will most likely need a PhD in pharmacology as the position you are after requires extensive skills in the development of drugs. You will need a PhD for this option as well. Without a PhD, at best you will end up being a clinical trial assistant. There are a few Masters courses around will...

Well, it's hard for any one to answer that because we don't know where every single student has went after graduation. But in all seriousness, if you have an Honours degree and you are good enough (Hons Class I or at least High Class II.1) you will get a job in research! Seriously! There...
