As a young person do you feel disenfranchised by the two major parties?

I agree. And its going to take a long time for oil to run out, and even longer (at least hundreds of years) for coal and uranium to run out. So really, there is nothing to worry about.

As a young person do you feel disenfranchised by the two major parties?

Nah you see what happens is as the resources gradually run out, the price of these resources will increase (as is already being observed with coal, oil and most commodities). As prices rise, renewable energy projects become comparatively more attractive. Too many people seem to imagine some...

As a young person do you feel disenfranchised by the two major parties?

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrr......... technology improves fast enough to adapt to a post fossil fuels economy and living standards to continue to increase and we can enjoy consumerism and be awesome instead.

Fuck yeah Rudd is *OUTTA HERE*

Yes but it spends way more on the military and generally has lower taxes.

Reuters: Yeah we doctor photos, what of it?

We don't really know if it was intentional or not. That's why its worth having a thread about. Can anyone provide examples of other photos cropped or 'doctored' by Reuters that would give weight to such a claim?

how hard would it be to set up a new country within australia?

Nah you see states don't sell territory. Unlike individuals and corporations they will not make peaceful contractual agreements. States will cling to every scrap of land they can command, and will never give an inch unless they are violently conquered. Setting up a microstate in Australia...

Reuters: Yeah we doctor photos, what of it?

I do see the difference. I agree there is a difference. I am saying that him making an error in the thread title is not a good justification for deleting the thread, and that the issue of strategic cropping is worth discussing and once people read the thread they will see that that is what he...

how hard would it be to set up a new country within australia?

Basically all we (I mean they) would need is a few nuclear warheads.

Reuters: Yeah we doctor photos, what of it?

Yeah you just repeated what I said. I'd say about half the thread titles in NCAP are poorly thought out but you don't threaten them all with deletion. People understand what the OP meant once they read the thread, and the thread does raise an interesting point.

Reuters: Yeah we doctor photos, what of it?

The strategic cropping of photos is a legitimate issue to discuss, much more so than many of the other threads that get allowed to fester in NCAP. Many OPs make a mistake in the thread title. Sure it wasn't doctored, but it still raises a significant issue.

Greens call for a high speed rail link

We should build an under sea super high speed rail link between Sydney and Los Angeles that is powered by nuclear rocket trains which are faster than aircraft. Think how cool it would be, and it might save some carbon or something, idk. COST IS NOT AN ISSUE HERE, THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE OF OUR...

Greens call for a high speed rail link

The way to build a nation is to rob Peter to pay Paul to build something that neither Peter nor Paul thought was viable to build before the robbery.

Greens call for a high speed rail link

If it was economically viable you'd expect to see companies and consortiums putting forward proposals. In reality, the only proposals we've seen have been direct government proposals, or in response to calls for government tenders. HSR will probably someday be viable in Australia as...

Bad laws, not bad whores: sex workers

If you kill or hurt people in your own home, you are violating people's property rights to their body. If you create excessive noise or smell, you are discharging noxious particles into your neighbor's property and thus violating their property rights. If you don't let someone into your home...

    Liberal or Labor?

We are not just talking about the economy of Somalia, we are talking about the quality of life of the people of Somalia. If the free market makes it easier for people to leave the country, and get remittances safely back to their families, surely they are better off than not having the...

    Liberal or Labor?

Somalia has been a shithole for the last century, largely due to the interference of colonial, you guess it, GOVERNMENTS. The question is not whether Somalia is a nice place to live, its whether it has got better since the collapse of government. It's difficult to say either way, because of...

Bad laws, not bad whores: sex workers

People have a right to hold attitudes like that, as much as you or I may agree that they are ignorant and foolish. I'm all for prostitution, but if people don't want to lend prostitutes THEIR MONEY or allow them on THEIR PROPERTY that's THEIR CHOICE, even if their reasoning is stupid.

    Liberal or Labor?

Yes and remittances have increased because there is less fear that the money will be confiscated by a corrupt government.
