Iran to have nuclear weapon by next year

That's correct; they have few large-scale oil refinery capabilities which you can easily discover by doing some research. Iran sells oil much the same way Australia sells steel - unrefined. If you actually knew anything about the situation you wouldn't be making such a stupid post...

Iran to have nuclear weapon by next year

For reference, the extreme sanctions referred to are at the very least a fuel blockade, which would cause immense civil unrest in Iran and essentially bring the country to a stand-still, since Iran produces oil but cannot refine it, relying on Western imports.

Iran to have nuclear weapon by next year

The French, British and Americans briefed the Russians and Chinese about it over the weekend at G20. The Russians are on board, the Chinese are going to go away and think about it. Expect extreme sanctions (the Russians will support them and the Chinese will abstain), and the chance of a...

Should individuals/groups have the right to secede from the state?

I voted no, but I don't suppose I'd mind if it was a controlled secession. E.g. a group of anarchists wanting to test their ideology out, with a small set of guidelines (e.g. intervention if it turns violent, or to end slavery, etc) which would be designed to minimise the state's interference...

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

He wasn't more eloquent, just more aggressive. I'd suggest reading Schroedinger's posts instead. Every single one of them.

Rudd plans to lower voting age to 16

His style is definitely different to dom's. Also, sorry for the rage guys.

    Voting...what do you think?

Just take the time to write what you actually mean in future instead of expecting others to read between the lines. You seem to have meant to write: "Why are high voter turn-out rates good if they occur from compulsory voting?" Which is pretty fucking clearly a lot different to the...

    Voting...what do you think?

Nothing is wrong with that. It's a pity you didn't do it. Instead you asked a stupidly vague blanket statement which was divorced from the issue of compulsory or voluntary voting. (Id est: "Why is high voter turnout a good thing?") No, I'm just tired of beating the same old dead horse with...

    Voting...what do you think?

How the heck did you draw that conclusion from what I wrote? The part you bolded is simply a frequent assertion by Americans: that their vote doesn't matter or count (and hence why vote). It's wrong - I am entirely against that mindset, but they hold it just the same, partly because America's...

'Occasional'? You must be new here.

    Voting...what do you think?

Except you asked an absolutely retarded question and then quickly changed the subject when I answered you - you switched the question from why high turnout is good to why high turnout justifies compulsory voting. Nice bit of sleight of hand which I've noticed you play over and over again in...

I will when this forum's mods develop some sort of consistent fucking policy for their actions in this forum.

So in other words this question you asked me was just a pointless annoyance like I originally thought?

    Voting...what do you think?

Fine: a high turnout is good because it signifies active, healthy participation in our democracy by its citizenry. A high turn-out means almost everyone is having their say and there is little disenfranchisement by groups in need (due to apathy, fear, or whatever). When turn-out is low, as in...

    Voting...what do you think?

I'm not even going to bother answering that. You don't even think democracy is a good thing because you don't like the notion that you 'only' have as much of a vote as Joe Average and that he might vote for a government which promises universal healthcare.

    Will Rudd surpass Keating?

No it's not. At all. Who told you that? Telstra is struggling to crank out 20mbps on their new state-of-the-art 4g wireless spectrum network. And they're at the forefront of the world's wireless researchers (hey - Telstra innovating for once, how novell). And wireless has physically...
