    2009ers: Year 12 Jerseys

Re: Year 12 Jerseys School ;) Even though I'm (half-)Asian, I don't exactly have the work ethic needed to do well state-wise. Up here in Port the only school where they have any brilliant people who come first in the state is the Catholic one.

    2009ers: Year 12 Jerseys

Re: Year 12 Jerseys I'm going to have to start considering this... My first thoughts are: a) something derived from my name or initials, which is what I usually go by online b) something computer/science/maths related c) something about pwning everyone else in the HSC, which I'm sure I...

    australian student leadership conference

That's a great introductory exercise. Did it at Youth 2020, except with building clone Lego models rather than windmills.

    Do you like maths?

edit: this is in reply to 'why do you think they made it easier?' Probably just part of the whole 'standards referenced' thing, i.e. New HSC. In general New HSC lifted marks everywhere.

Things to do during holidays between end of Year 11 and start of Year 12

I'm somewhat pedantic about which pens I buy (which doesn't carry on into my handwriting - I'm the worst handwriter in my year). I just got a Fisher Space Pen the other day and am very much looking forward to using it in Year 12.

    Starting HSC work?

Re: Have you started hsc work yet? I had this really awful Chem textbook (Spotlight I think it was called) last year which was over 400 pages, which were larger than A4 size. In Year 11 Chem we used Conquering Chemistry, which was much better.

Getting a rank of 1st is quite easy when most of your classes have less than 10 people :P

Things to do during holidays between end of Year 11 and start of Year 12

My holidays so far consists of getting the flu. After a whole term of perfect attendance, unlike everyone else in my year, I get the flu on the first weekend of the holidays. Ironic.

    Process of dropping your subject

At my school, we have a generic 'Change of Subject' form for dropping, picking up or changing anything. I haven't actually seen it, but I believe it requires signing-off by the teacher, the head of school, the student and sometimes the parent. It's a very formal process. (We also have...

Preliminary HSC Yearly Exams Thoughts & Results

The ITE paper, I believe. Did it too. There was a question about two technologies used to avoid or reduce vehicle collisions. I was tempted to write 'Steering' and 'Brakes' but ended up writing about seat belts and crumple zones. (That doesn't actually answer the question, because seat belts...

Preliminary HSC Yearly Exams Thoughts & Results

OK, got Maths back as well. 64/82 (78%). So far, that means I'm 1st, but there's one person left to do the exam. I won't be giving her any clues.
