is ext 2 maths really worth it

Imho e3-e4 in ext 2 is highly attainable even without tutoring That's like doing well in multiple choice, get most of q11-12 correct (which is just textbook problems, maybe even q13 and 14 for that matter) and scaling does the rest ~70% raw correlates to an e5 so you don't even need to touch...

Start ucat asap, 1 year of ucat is too short given the competition, unless you're built diff and score very high

    first sem is over...

And they may also have an extremely heavy accent so unless you're used to it, it can be very difficult to understand what they're saying Though unsw elec engineering courses have been exempt from this even in 3rd and 4th year thankfully

yr 11 Subject selection dilemma T-T

    1. Are you thinking of pursuing stem? If yes, exposure to ext 1 maths will be good 2. Advanced and std English are the same thing, literally. Don't be fooled that if you drop advanced English because it's too hard, that you'll get an easier time in standard. In reality it'll get harder since...

    Choking in Exams

Bro how are your wrists hurting from mx2 exams Practising papers under exam conditions (ie timed, with pen and on separate writing paper) is the only solution to your problems

    Physics and extension 2 maths?

You'll also derive the equations for projectile motion, which you've memorised from physics, and when you consider oscillation to be a projection of uniform circular motion onto x/y axis, some ext 2 questions with heavy algebra can be solved in a few lines

how does ext2 math and english work?

No, if you take ext 2 english, you'll have to sit the advanced english hsc as well. The reason why ext 2 maths excludes the advanced math hsc is because ext 2 math students are expected to get band 6 in it so NESA deems it unnecessary

How to get good at math?

Pattern recognition happens when you understand a concept and apply it enough to the point where you can just "see" how to solve a certain type of question People who say that maths is literally just pattern recognition are rote learning it and will severely regret doing so later on

    unsw or usyd??

Go unsw for stem-related degrees All of my friends attending usyd for stem want to transfer out asap Usyd is more catered towards arts and humanities from what I've heard

    what is 4u like?

Hmm conceptually? Vectors and mechanics: light work, the latter even more so if you're taking physics Integration: bit more work but still light Complex numbers and proofs: if you haven't touched concepts like them, it can be challenging at the start and most of your workload will be on them...

    what is 4u like?

Not at all Proofs and inequalities can be tricky the first time around but you'll get used to it You can't really compare 3u with 4u, it's like comparing yr 11 and yr 12 physics: you can do well in the latter even if you don't know anything about the former (besides general math skills)

    should i drop maths?

imo keep maths and pull through it. You're going into a stem field and you never know when nor where it'll pop up e.g. exhibit 1 People who went into food technology/nutrition at unsw thinking they'll never touch maths again, and hence not taken it in hsc, would've gotten pummelled right now...

    Thoughts on iPads for school?

I use a s8 ultra for uni since I got it for like ~900 off and it's pretty good; it does everything I need it to do Just get whichever one you can get cheaper and it'll do alright Laptops are situational in stem; if you do a lot of coding, carrying one around can be very useful since you can...
