You, pLuvia and Riviet have become synoymous with science because when I ask a question; it's mostly you three who come and answer them. :) So yeah, my thought process was, "hmm...a chemistry question...chemistry's a science subject...ah...those three must know the answer." Oh damn, yeah...

Sorry, I'm still a bit confused. So in the case of the combustion above, would the answer be 2.5x104 kJ? Is that what you mean? Anyway, sorry for asking again but I'm just confused. :p

Thanks for the advice, I'll try to remember that. I guess that's why the answers in the Chemistry textbooks are in scientific notation all the time. I'm curious though, is this also the case for the HSC? Would I be marked down for my answer if it wasn't rounded off to significant figures...

I always thought the rule of thumb for rounding up was if it was 5 or above then you round up and if it was under 5 then you round down. e.g. 34.5cm rounds up to 35cm (Nearest cm) 34.4cm rounds down to 34cm (Nearest cm)
