Sequene and series Questions Help !!

    PART A T1 = 15 T2 = 19 T3 = 23 This is an Arithmetic Progression with first term 15, and common difference of 4. Hence, according to the formula Tn = a + (n-1)d the general term is Tn = 15 + (n-1)4 T12 = 15 + 44 = $59 PART B T1 = 1/2 T2 = 3/2 T3 = 9/2 This is a Geometric...

    Small Angle Q.... Please. :)

So what we have is essentially our plane (lets call the wing tips A & B) directly above a point on the ground (lets call this point C). We know that the distance of A to B is 30m, and that the angle that AB subtends at C is 14' (that is, angle ACB = 14'). What we want is the perpendicular...

Another way of answering the cirle geometry question

i would guess it's a 0/3 since literally none of this proof is used in the actual valid method (i.e. constructing a tangent).

    General Thoughts: Mathematics Extension 1

I think overall it was a fairly tough 3U exam especially compared to last years, but not that unbelievably so when you compare it to some of the exams from the early 2000s. Up to question 14 was fairly easy, and the induction was fine too. i'm estimating about a 56-57/70. how do you guys think...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

because I made multiple stupid mistakes. the only thing in there that wasn't a stupid mistake was the volume of revolution that turned out to be 8pi/3 not 136pi/3 other than that, it's shit like putting -2<m</=2 when it clearly should have been m>/=2, m<-2

    2013 math difficulty

maybe so which would mean there is a considerable jump there but if you go back to the early 2000s it's harder again

    2013 math difficulty

i don't understand how everyone has said "hardest exam ever". has nobody done the pre-2006 papers? they were all so much harder than the new ones. we had 10 multiple choice. come on, that already makes it easier. 100 marks to earn in 3 hours instead of 120 for all the exams pre-2012. sure last...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

you should make a band 6 then. saying there is a cut off mark for band 6 in the exam is idiotic because the exam is 50% so if you did really well in assessments and the rest of your school also did pretty good in yesterday's exam you'll get a band 6. just try not to worry about this stuff :)...

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

well whether or not you get a band 6 depends on your assessment mark. from what others have been posting, my guess is that 80-83 will align to a low 90s / borderline 90s exam mark but your assessment makes a fairly big difference to your over band

    2013 Paper worked solutions

you made a silly mistake on 11.b) it should be 3 not 2.5 also in 15.b) x^2 = (2 - sqrt(y))^2 you should have taken both the positive and negative roots when you square rooted it at the start and then subbed values to see that only the negative square root is valid. for example, sub (0,4)...

to be honest after rounding i think the stats will show 0% of the candidacy will get 4/4 for that question. i know of 1 person who noticed this during the exam hall and that's coming from a selective high (penrith as it may).

    Q15 Share your answers

i thought this was correct until now but i have been informed by a friend who just checked it that technically it's (2 +/- rooty)^2 and if you sub values you will find that the correct answer is x^2 = (2-sqrt(y))^2 = (4 - 4sqrt(y) + y)

    General Thoughts: Mathematics

no, it was sinx = 7sqrt(3)/26. the question explicitly stated find the exact value of sinx. that is as simple as it goes.
