    Quick question

Well, it carries either base or acid. Still, having water in it does not alter the number of moles of acid or base it will hold. Rinsing it with base or acid just defeats the whole purpose of measuring exactly 25 mL with a pipette. Also, when you have half a drop of base/acid coming...

    Quick question

The conical flask is rinsed with water because if it was rinsed with acid, then the number of moles of acid in the conical flask would be too high. If it was rinsed with base, then the number of moles of acid would be too low. It's 83, not 82. Past 92 are transuranic elements.

    dot points help

I would type it up for you, but I have a feeling it's quicker if you flick to the CFCs section of your textbook. :) Look here for all your water needs: http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=86049

    Chem dot point notes?

It's always good to have a guide, but the best notes are in your own words, without consulting a textbook. ;)

    anyone do this prac?

It is forensics. Post in the Forensics forum next time so other Chem people won't start panicking. :p It's basically just flame tests and AES. You'll be given the emission spectra of those elements in the exam where you need to identify elements in a mixture, etc. You won't be asked to...

    drawing in the exam????

I asked that here. I'm going to call HSC Advice Line this afternoon to confirm. But if you're comparing say glucose and fructose, or maltose and sucrose, it's easier to draw than to describe.

    Dry Cell

    NH4+ + MnO2 + H2O + e- → Mn(OH)3 + NH3 You can still get away with full marks if you don't include these equations. They're rather long and confusing.

    Biomass

No, no. There is. The extremely high cost holds it back from large-scale manufacture.

    systematic name of Styrene

You read CC. :o There was a long debate about this, and I'm convinced that it's benzylethene. Remember how these things are named. If you have one hydrogen atom of ethene replaced with a chlorine atom, then it becomes chloroethene. Similarly, if you have one hydrogen atom replaced with a...

    identification of ion

Ah, then you should have put this in the Industrial Chem forum? :p I believe the test for nitrates is the brown-ring test, which is quite annoying. It depends on whether they're asking you to learn how to identify one specific ion, a cation, or an anion. If you can choose, then pick...

    identification of ion

Look in your textbook. There should be tables. Are you after a specific ion? Because there are a lot. :p
