    Year 11 Question..

Re: any advice?? We keep the same teachers at our school. Except ext 2 changes I think. I'm not quite sure why this is in this thread. This has been mentioned a billion times before and you could find these answers in a second but I'll do the work for you- You can get any ATAR with any...

    Looks handy. Thanks

    The vegetarian/vegan thread.

I guess that's true to an extent. But of course, like everything it's only a few bad apples that spoil the bunch, usually those with a superiority complex or rebellious teenagers who turn vego for a month, seeking attention in any way possible.

    A New Course

I don't know. What's the main reason you're doing maths? Is it for a personal challenge to yourself or is it for recommended or prerequisite uni knowledge? If the latter and 2U is too difficult for you, then maybe you shouldn't be looking towards courses with mathematical aspects because in is...

    The vegetarian/vegan thread.

Except half the reason there are so many cows is because they are bred to be slaughtered. Anyway, this is going to turn into a vego/carnivore war, which is such a tiresome debate and neither side really ever convinces the other to change their ways. Who knows why some people hold so much...

Can Someone tell me how to solve this perms/combs question :D

So I thought. Most of the perms/combs questions I've done are just rewordings of the same thing it's nice to see something different. If it is asking what i think it's asking I'm a little stumped. But as the wording is so confusing already, I'll just make sure it's not 4^9 x 9! is it? I...

Can Someone tell me how to solve this perms/combs question :D

Yeah I guess so. I wouldn't really know how to solve it if it is the question I thought, well it would take about 20 times longer if wanted to do it the long way anyway. In an Exam I sure hope they'd be more specific. Well if the answer to part 1 is 9C4 = 126, then part 2 is 9P4 = 3024. And if...

    factorial question

Beautiful solution Pwnage. When you truly grasp "n!= n(n-1)(n-2)....3x2x1" rule and then realise n! = n(n-1)(n-2)(n-3)! factorials become a joy to work with. In this case it becomes simple cancelling down, when you have something like n!/(n-3)! it becomes simply n!(n-1)(n-2).

Can Someone tell me how to solve this perms/combs question :D

This doesn't seem right to me. Obviously it is a question of permutations, but 9P4 could only be right if you interpret the question as "here's 9 rings, how many differently ordered groups of 4 can you have?" I read that question more as "here's 9 rings, place them all on your 4 fingers, i.e...

    Factorising

    Hmm, not 100% sure, but I'd say. \sqrt{2x^{4}-3x^{2}+x} &= \sqrt{x(2x^{3}-3x+1)}

    Past School Certificate(YEAR 10) Papers

Very much like NAPLAN and ESSA, pretty much basic skills. You definitely don't need to be worrying about it at this stage of the year, just make sure you pay attention in class for History and Geography and you should be able to nail band 6's for everything.

What would be the best advanced english excercise book to use?

Get one of those science-type books that alternate between lined and blank pages. That way if, I mean "when", you get bored of the English syllabus you can start drawing a lovely picture on the next page. Think of it, on one page you could be taking notes about the imagery evident in some...

Favourite artists in the 90's adn early 00's

Indeed. 90's and early 2000's had some of my favourite bands of all time but virtually everything mentioned so far is what sucked about that period. Pulp, Blur, Supergrass, Suede, Elastica, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Nirvana, The Libertines, The Strokes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and a few others from...

How many textbook/study guide/past paper book do u need for each subject?

Yep. My local bookstores are crap too (nothing but a few Excel guides). If you want a real selection you have to make a trip into the city or buy online. Search "emporiumbooks.com.au" for "HSC past papers" and you can buy the Success One papers as well as a few others.

    Biggest Distractions?

The only TV I ever watch is channel BT. Music is the other big distraction, when I get home from school all I want to do is chill out with a few records for the whole afternoon.

asses effectiveness of adverserial system - ESSAY

And as with all essays, don't lose sight of the question, keep referring back to it in your response. Also, if you can try and give direct examples, it may be tough with this question as it is essentially just assessing your knowledge of how the Adversarial system operates and depending on your...

asses effectiveness of adverserial system - ESSAY

    - Give positives and negatives. - Make your own judgment on whether you think it is a fair and just way of doing things for both the individual and society as a whole. Perhaps include some of your own recommendations on how it could be improved. - Briefly compare it to the inquisitorial system...

    my studying and results

Go the CRAM! Seriously, spend a bit of time everyday on each subject, (look over your notes, do some extra questions, etc.) You can't expect to just look over a topic of work the night before and have 80+ just fall in your lap.

    Combination and Permutation

Ah, I see. It's in the year 12 book, I didn't even think to look at the last topic in the year 12 book seeing as it was the first topic we did in year 11 3U. Just looking over it now, I still recommend a combination of Fitzpatrick and Cambridge.
