    Year Group Not Studying

oh no i didnt mean that average marks would be affected via the acutal average, i meant to say as a consequence of people near or below average doing poorly, it would disproportionately hinder average students (due to how internal marks are allocated via rank) compared to top students like OP.

also you can't help people who dont want to be helped, so its better to focus on your own performance.

    Year Group Not Studying

It shouldn't matter if people closer to average do bad, all that matters for you since your top or near top in every subject is that people who are within 1 or 2 ranks from you study and do well. btw the average mark has no effect on your mark at all, it normally only messes with people who are...

Where Does Plagiarism Start, and Inspiration End?

If it's just the quotes that are the same It is fine, because in a HSC cohort there is bound to be some students who have all the same quotes for 1 text. It is only when the analysis is word for word for 80%+ in which its a real possibility of plagiarism (although I know students have word for...

    99.95 without extension 2 maths

wait did 120 people pick ext 2, thats like the size of my school.
  9. T

    I don't understand this

your atar is an aggregate of your best 10 units, so if you perform well in ext 1 and your on 11 units and lets say that visual arts is your lowest 2 unit subject, then only 1 unit of VA will count and the other unit will be made up by ext 1. If ext 1 is your worst performing subject than it is...

    short answer questions

ive read that you should have only 1 sentence discussing the question in relation to your quotes (sorta like a topic sentence) and then 1 sentence per quote (these tend to be longer sentences). You should aim for 1 sentence per mark or maybe one sentence over per mark. Try to directly answer the...

Is there plagiarism in the HSC for english?

Its because people who are good at english make their own essays, but most people who copy do not know how to edit/adapt to a question , hence why the resort to plagiarism. To get into the b6 range its more about answering the question rather than having a godly analysis, and the majority of...

Is there plagiarism in the HSC for english?

you have to copy almost word for word to be called out for plagiarism, It's very hard to get caught as the questions are different every year so when you adapt a thesis/ topic sentence, it will most likely be different from the copied one. So if you just reword it and take paragraphs from...

    comp sci, math or actuarial

How did you go about getting interns during your undergrad? Did you just do projects and apply? Also what would you advise to someone that has little experience in programming doing HSC this year to get ahead on their CV? Thanks.

    comp sci, math or actuarial

Thanks for the response. I have not done as much research as I have on actl and stats than I have on comp sci, so how much maths does comp sci cover, is it basically the same as a normal maths degree in terms of when applying for jobs (ie does a comp sci degree equally a sought after for math...

    comp sci, math or actuarial

I have had a recent debate on which of these degrees I should pursue in uni. I initially wanted to do actuarial as I thought it was a high level math field that meant I could specialise into either finance/consulting, but i recently I have researched into these specialisations and people have...

Is it risky dropping to 10 units??

To be fair you didn't have a proper written exam yet, so you don't really know, you might be good at tests and you could have got unlucky with pracs and depth study. You are going to have to judge if you are good at pure theory exams and if you are it might be worth keeping for an extra term or so.

    Selective Entry Thread 2021 (Lockdown)

I know for schools who require HAST all they care about is your actual HAST results, as long as you did better than mediocre in your grades you just need like 75/80+ percentile to get into one of the schools even if you get into the reserve list you have a good chance of making it in, i know...
