    Extension History '08

We're doing The Bush Legend (God know's why, but I've given up on coming first in it now). I'm really stuck on my Major Work topic - something on Christianity, French History or the Holocaust is what I hope to study, though. But I seem to be wandering aimlessly about how to attack these topics...

Can you do Snr. Science and other Sciences?

I have this friend that's picked up Senior Science for Year 12, and he's already doing Chemistry and Biology. Is that possible? I thought that if you did Senior Science, you couldn't do any other science?

My year has about 60 people in it, but the rest of them have c.100. So even for a Country school, it's pretty small.

    Help Please !! - Frankenstein

Well the whole idea of the preliminary course is that concept of "texts, values and their context" -- so you have to link texts with their context, and explore the values reflected from that context in the text. I hope that makes sense; so you're talking about the values of Frankenstein, and...

    Anyone on the same boat?

Yeah, I have a Legal assignment due on Wednesday, and I haven't started it - and an English one due on Friday and I haven't done half of it. I think I'm just sick of Preliminary - the marks and ranks don't matter so I don't really care anymore. Counting the days until HSC starts.

Are you guys finding Eng Ext Fun??? share your thoughts

Extension is way more interesting than Advanced, and in my class 90% of the time is just spent discussing rather than doing actual work. On average, I perform better at it too. We haven't mentioned Shakespeare in our class, so maybe you're studying something different?

    Typed or written notes?

I write them, then transfer them onto the computer afterwards. I'm glad I do, because I know I would have lost most - if not all - of my Half-Yearly notes and practice essays.

    How was your school day?

I have an Ancient 'Historical Investigation' assignment due on Monday. I haven't started yet. Sophocles just seems like Shakespeare, minus the unintelligible words.

How do you deal with school pressure?

I think it has the same aim as running, or going to the gym, I guess? Well, you don't necessarily hit a bag - you hit other people.

How do you deal with school pressure?

The old fashioned way - stress ball, yo'. But really, take up kickboxing etc. It really helps to release stress and pent-up anger. And, the adrenaline rush doesn't hurt either.

Difficulty in getting a High B5 - Low B6 In Advance?

I think people make generic essays, and then they mold the essay to suit the question posed in the HSC.

Extension courses for year 12? And what are you dropping?

I think I'm going to drop General Mathematics...because it's General Mathematics, because I really despise it. Then, I'll take up English Extension 2 and History Extension. Everybody seems to be taking up those two, haha. Well, I'm at least keeping English Extension 2 and History Extension...

I only listen to music while studying/reading when I'm surrounded by annoying or loud people -- really works well at drowning them out.

    balancing work + school

My English teacher told us all "It's not possible to juggle both a working job and the HSC", but I honestly think it depends on the person.
